My wife and I will be in Carlsbad Satuday night. I plan on surfing somewhere around Carlsbad/Oceanside Sunday a.m. ( waves permitting) I would love to share a session if anyone is around. I hope to find an uncrowded peak somewhere. Send me a message if you want to connect.

Beeline,
I surf both spots equally over the year. Oceanside is a hollower wave but Tam has fun open shoulders. I will be there Sunday as we are meeting friends south of the jetty and staying all day.

I might try to meet up with you on Sunday Curtis. I like the open shoulders too! Give me a chance to practice my cutbacks

I'm usually at Warm Water Jetties anyway.

Dave,
Sounds good, after D.P. surf I will be hanging between Tam and Warm Waters all day.

Tamarack is usually a mellower crowd and tends to blow out later in the day than O'side. Plus free parking right in front, I've always been lucky at that lot being able to get parking (it's worth it sometimes just not having to worry about time limits or pay for parking). And there's facilities right there so it's more family oriented. Sometimes I think it's the most overlooked spot on the coast. People pass it by because it's rep is a beginner break, but I've had some really fun sessions there and the shorebreak can pound big time.
O'side is more consistent though and has the rivermouth for the morning off shores. Then again, I've had some of the worst sessions of my life there. I guess it's all a matter of perspective ... I'll go either way depending on my mood.

Kava,
Ponto is a fine break as you well know, but with the steep south swells it tends to be a little far south. Tam tends to be the first spot for the souths to show at, and the Harbor will be even bigger. Tam may be mellower but the fack that it is a reef break gives it more consistant form.

Had a fun session at the Harbor with Kurt Cotton. No south swell showing only northern wind swell.
No crowd, three of use surfed between condo's and the jetty for two hours.
Good news; the water is warming back up!

Yea, I surfed Condo's. Got in the water at 8, and left at 9. The water is warm and the waves were pretty small. Disorganized wind swell. But hey

the water is warm
