K-58s (Baja), was 5-6 foot on Friday steep & glassy, while North County was ankle slappers. Same size today (Saturday), but crappy conditions, came home early. Can't wait to see what Monday brings!

ok fellas, i'm stuck in the embassy suites in Covina, CA coaching some junior olympics. about as far from this recent swell as you can get and still be in LA. i think i'll have tomorrow off though - hows the surf? north county LA or to the HB/Newport area better off?

i'll be coaching the girls JO's and staying in a hotel in oxnard so i'll be up that way till August 6th. i am thinking it might just be better to go up to north county LA.

thoughts?

also, any k-bers want to meet up for a session i'd be stoked!

According to my hoodlum standup friend, there were great waves yesterday and today in the north Malibu area. There were even a couple KBers out where he surfed.

I should be surfing in that area early Weds. Look for a 'rescue me' pinkish orange 6'0" aircraft carrier.

i'm passing on tomorrow mornings surf, but i will be surfing every day from then on in the morning and maybe even some afternoon/glass off sessions depending on our tournament schedule. i'd love to meet up for a session if you're game - i have some good spots in mind that i haven't hit up since i left LA. for my money, there are few places i'd rather be with a good south in the water than north county LA (aka north of da bu).

I'll be near UCSD with the family two mornings later this week. It'll be good to get out of the island shadow up here, and down where the really warm water is.

The "Big South Swell" prediction fizzled.
There were waves but nothing to rave about.
Souces on Kauai reported seeing maybe one 5' wave before dark yesterday.

Remnants of a tropical storm brought rain and calm winds.
Good little waves out here at Laniakea and out front at Back Yards.
The latter was capturing bits of the SW swell and an ENE swell making for some hollow spitting little 3-4' wedges. 8) :)

Water temp = 80 F.

Sure beats driving to Honolulu and surfing with a hoard.
