my best translation....
Dubbed everything from half-men to cripples, kneeboarders have always been considered a little, well, loony. But being an outcast among outcasts made guys like Rick Huffman and Michael N?????, in some strange ways, undeniably cool. Unfortunately, that's no longer the case for our current crop of half-brothers. Sadly, even in our current full fledged renaissance period, they're still waiting to be part of the ubbercool crowd.

"I blame that son of a bitch Tom Morey," says Ron Romonoski, a longtime feature at The Wedge in Newport Beach. "We used to be unique. But once you had all these softies(??) on boogie boards ???? in, we got screwed by association. They look just like us."

"Yup," said Bill Sharp, a longtime NSSA National Team Member who won several kneeboarding championships in the '80s. "Suddenly we didn't look so badass. We just looked w???."

Yet, despite the movement that's resurrected Steve Lis' fish from the dead and further raised George Greenough's status as a cult hero (both were kneeboarding Gods) the rest of those curious looking characters have yet to gain any traction with the "in" crowd. Is it too late? Is there any hope for them?

"You don't pull a lot of chicks as a kneeboarder," says Sharp. "So the chances don't look good."

"Sh*t, that's like asking if the grizzlies stand a chance at coming back in a big way? No way," says Romonoski.

While sad, this may be just how self-deprecating(?) half-men want it. As Sharp puts it, "we really don't need anyone else coming ??? our handicap parking spots."

Another huge step forward for kneeboarding
Does Romonoski like pissing in his own bed?
Bill Sharp :!: seems to be on the pulse with what it is all about.
How can this be good for the sport?
Unbelievable

"You don't pull a lot of chicks as a kneeboarder," says Sharp. "So the chances don't look good."

If you can't pull chicks when you are running the biggest global wave search in the world, the Billabong Oddesey, and are one of the figure heads of modern surfing's industry, I think your choice of equipment is not your problem.

"I blame that son of a bitch Tom Morey," says Ron Romanosky.

This is just laughable. Do you know how many shots Romo has had published in bodyboarding magazine due to the fact that the bodyboard was invented? He must have paid back all of his equipment based solely on shooting bodyboarders during bodyboarding's sponsorship hey-day.

"While sad, this may be just how self-depricating half-men want it."

Yeah, keep feeling sorry for yourselves, Romo and Sharp.

I don't know

we used to have to beat them off with baseball bats (the women)

I think what made us irresistable was the black flippers - and the sort of sucky, sexy sound they made as we walked into the pub. Women just loved that noise. I think it reminded them of cavemen, the smell of the campfire and the taste of freshly killed wombat....

and as we all know: Wombats eats roots and leaves.

then again, we were the MKA.

He still rides huge Wedge, and is out pretty much anytime the waves are good.

Well I'm not sure what to think, but I will chime in for the heck of it. Surfer mag in my experience is open to covering us kneeboarders, forget about Transworld surf. They told me to go peddle my photo's and stories to Surfer.
I am thankful for Surfer, but I wish they would move on with the times. I mean a pic of a guy with a couple spoons? Gee wiz, Greenough, and the spoon are ancient history.
Romo and Sharp did nothing to help us either.
Time has moved on from the Model T to Porsches. Why when there is a kneeboarder article does Greenough and Lis take most of the copy. To move forward, newer hotter people and boards need to be covered.
Er ahh, Greenough is a sponger now!
I have been on a long hiatus, but even I know who the Sparrow is, who the national team people were, who the hot guys are now in the USA, and even in some parts of the world.
I am sorry if I have ruffled some feathers, but we need to move on and talk about other kneeboarders. When people mention Greenough, I say there are guys now who make him look like a boogie boarder on a one foot wave.
