Wasn't that great!!!! & what a second wave....a 9.6
Garrett won all his heats apart from one.
A big congratulations to Garrett & family.
I got 3 - 4 feet offshore waves this morning with kneelos Nick & Bryn & spent the rest of the day watching the junior world champs.
A great day!

I was just reading through the article linked above, and it says half way down:
Parkes' father in Australia recently suffered a stroke and the win was an emotional one.
Really? If it's true, although i don't know you personally, my thoughts go out to you Mr Parkes, and I hope you doing OK.

I know David is the sort of person to not want to make a song & dance about things...& would probably have just kept quiet about it.....therefore I wasn't going to mention it.
He described it as a small heart attack & had an operation to insert a stent into an artery [a sort of mesh tube]. He said the outlook was very good.
He was due to come over with Garrett to Portugal & then come on to Cornwall & shape some boards after.
It happened the day he was due to book the flight.
I had an email from him a few days ago to say he was feeling great and had been doing light work for the last couple of weeks....looking forward to getting the OK to get back in the water....& said the surf was looking good!
He is now planning to come over in the autumn & I'm greatly looking forward to sharing some of the waves we surfed 20 years ago!
Garrett's win will be good medicine!
All the very best to the Parkes family.
