I have a set of Parkes deck pads (the raised set not the flatter type) and they keep lifting, I've tried Selleys Kwik Grip which was recommended but it still keeps lifting.

Anyone got any suggestions on a good adhesive (short of nailing them down)

while your near the Selleys range, give the urathane glue a go.Have only ever used this with good results

Had that same problem[parkes pads]Cleaned the area under the pad with water to flush off the salt,same with the deck area.lightly sanded the deck under the flap with an abrasive,and let a bit of adhesive to run out past the pad edges.
Try not to whiz on the pads,breaks down down the rubber.....

thats what I use!! Works fine.

thing with selleys is you have to coat the rubber once, let it dry (get absorbed) then do it again, let it tack dry and push well to get good adhesion.
Got to be clean, dry surfaces. Wash, use acetone, dry with hairdryer.

I've had less than perfect results with 3m spray. Also find it gets all over the place, even with a tape mask.

whats the adhesive on aluminum tape?....that stuff would work awsome im sure....

ive used contact cement up to this point...DAP being my favorite

urethane glue foams and might raise your pads slightly ....also it says 100% waterproof on the bottle ...but after it gets crushed by your knees im sure it will take in water....it is still porous on the inside...

use 3m hi-strength 90 spray adhesive. Got this advise from Joe Bark, he uses it on his paddleboards.

Im with the 3M Type 77 adhesive spray. If not that, I would go wth the automotive trim adhesive spray.

Either way, make sure there is NO wax on the board. Use a Scotch Pad to break the gloss. Mask and spray on a couple light coats to each surface then walk away and let dry for 10 min.

Then use the trick like the counter top installers use. Put a few sticks under the pad and pull them out one by one when it is all lined up. Dont let there be any air pockets when you are soothin it all out.

I make my own pads and have used a number of fancy urethanes etc. and they all lifted eventually ( haven't tried the spray) in the end I found a cheap tube of Liquid Nails did the trick and the pads are still down with no sign of them lifting ( touch wood ). As Red said the surfaces have to be clean and a bit of sanding for bonding wouldn't go astray.

K Man - appreciate the heads up on the dangers of whizzing, guess I'll need to think of another warming technique for those cold winter mornings!

I have used rubber cement that I forgot to return to WayneK Works great, but you MUST apply to both the board, and pad, then LET BOTH SIDES DRY a bit before joining. If you don't let it dry like instructions say, it won't stick.

YOU BASTARD! I was looking for that glue the other day. I forgot I "loaned" it to ya and you forgot to give it back. Further, I forgot the name of the glue( age and too much salt water on the brain). It's the best glue I've used for re-attaching a Parkes pad that was peeling off at the corner( I tried many and it's still holding). I purchased it at Ace Harware.

MIKE, you can keep the glue BUT:
1) you owe me 3 set waves
2) Post the name of the glue and the company that makes it.

Ok, finally found the stuff buried under a few Paris Hilton magazines
It's DAP Weldwood contact cement, works great!
