Coastal Commission Approves Major Seawalls at Pleasure Point

Post by surfhorn »

Like it or not, Pleasure Point is going to receive a major facelift.

Expect to see major (faux nature) concrete-covered cliff faces from the little park at 32nd Ave. to Jack's house at 36th Ave. then again from The Hook south for 300 feet. Other development will include separate bike and walking paths, interpretive signs/guides and the palm trees removed at the Point Park, to be replaced by native species. A bath room with outside shower and a 'real' staircase will be built at the Point Park, with the other two staircases down the line also being replaced.

In the past I wouldn't have supported such a plan but, now, with the massive crowds that daily swamp the area, some of this is needed to protect the resources from the mobs.

I still have doubts on the effects of seawalls; where ever a wall ends, erosion begins.
