If it's any consolation, California, South-east Queensland is not a lot better. Weather's warming up, humidity is rising, onshore pattern starting to set in for the summer. Last few weeks it's been work work work. Long days in a hot, dusty tin shed, rolling around in fibreglass dust, sanding gelcoat with 40 grit.
Bills keep arriving in the mailbox, fuel keeps going up, and every day it seems more people are out of work and wondering how they're gonna buy their groceries and pay the rent.
Doesn't sound like much of a surf report, does it? That's because the only surf Ive been able to see over about the last 3 weeks has been garbage, and precious little at that. My next day off is 5 days away. Starting to feel a bit .
And those guys from the Gong and Wreck Bay keep posting those photos...
Sometimes ya gotta find consolation where ya can.

I need surf
looks like some a-frame peeks may be in store for OB later today as a new NW swell moves in to combine with the already present SW swell. Winds are calm but the tide swing is huge at +/- 6 feet.
I'm giddy with anticipation...see ya in the water.

watch the tides. I just got out of mid morning funkiness. There were a few at Kellys but catching them was tough as the tide started moving in. Larger sets were starting to show though. Few other kneelos out, saw a good inside barrel by one but then current and incoming tide kicked in. It just got textured and warbly as the tide pushed in, so I bailed with a low wave count. Such is life.
It bet it will be better after the tide turns, if wind holds off. I am going try again tomorrow at dawn.

Off the subject but this is the place to see and be seen. . .
Haven't been able to surf since Labor Day weekend which is driving be batty!!
Did some damage to my right shoulder. Still can't do a single push up!
Really hoped to be back in the water this weekend but not going to happen. . . Funny, even tough I can't surf i can't help checking out the surf reports and how you all are scoring! I guess old habits die hard.
I need to see the ocean, smell it . . so I decided to hike the Pt Buchon trail tomorrow. Low impact and no possibilty of re-damaging the shoulder.
Maybe next week?
You guys who can surf, cherish it 'cause you never know when you'll be out of the picture for a while.
Some more PT next week, hopefully they can get my shoulder in shape by next week.
So go and rip and I'll look forward to reading about it tomorrow.
Mutiny, really digging the photos of the crew @ RJ's. Nice day!!
Looking forward to the gathering of the tribe in Santa Cruz too.
Shalom

Surfed north of Santa Cruz this morning at a favorite reef one has to walk into a bit. Just a buddy and I for an hour or so on 4-6, sometime OH, glassy and some real gaping pits. A few couldn't be taken off on at all and it made for some fun seeing it attempted and the resulting free fall. Others had incredible ledges that you had to surf over, and then the wave went even more inside out. Some memorable barrels...
4 guys joined us later, but very mellow, everyone having fun and cheering each other on, making sure the "taking turns" system was followed. The wind got a bit onshore, but the reef is so strong it forced some of the waves to clean up and barrel anyway.
This is the way surfing should be...

Was gong for a surf mid day but walked out into a blanket of smoke, a Huey circling counter clockingwise at a few hundred feet, an S-2 clockwise at 1,000 feet and observation plane counterclockwise at about 1,500'.
Looks like near the freeway in Seacliff. Planes left......but they're back now.
Time to suit up again.
