This little baby deserves to be in the hands of a collector - no if's, no but's over the price - you see some crap boards being sold on ebay - this isn't:

Then there is the Western Australian history .........
Blair Micklejohn shaping and riding spaceships from distant galaxies started with plywood boards 4ft something then got some tips from the Odyssey surfboards owners Nev Hyman (NEV and FIREWIRE) and Phil Usher and made boards that won him numerous state titles and a couple of 2nds in the Oz titles behind Peter Crawford.
Neil Bird was also at Odyssey and stayed with new owner Bruce Smith and even followed him to Spain in the early 80s
In 1980 Darryl Wilkes of Morning Mist surfboards had the now DR Mike Mouritz and Barrie Mowday shaping great kneeboards.
Ross O'brien a great Kneeboarder and shaper and also the glasser at Santosha showed Marc Fitzpatrick some finer points of shaping but I think Fitzy must've forgotten them.
Geoff Dickson was a great backyard experiementer see Youtube

Budgie you sound suspiciously like an old Scarborough boy . There are some old familiar names and board companys in your post. I wonder where all those old odesys , cripstix ,ocean and earth etc are these days ( I suspect long gone in landfill
I don't quite get your comment on Fitzy ...you want to elaborate.

I`ll fill you in austo,Fitzy`s boards did`nt differ greatly from the original blank and did not progress.........ever!Just another name to throw into the mix pryor to the Odyssey days (who at one stage had 13 kneelo team riders and 1 surfboard rider) was Col Ladams when he was with Grierson Surfboards,a quality craftsman then and to this day.
Griz,
By the sound of your post, Mark's boards didn't suit you. I had a great run with boards from Mark as did Pecker, Mullet (before his untimely death as such a young age), Bean and others... each to their own.
I appreciate Budge and Mark didn't see eye to eye. Greg introduced me to Ross and I got a few boards from Ross until he went full on into accounting and got out of the business. Just beautiful boards, handling the WA power with ease and ability to drive as if on rails.
Which reminds me, I still owe budge a board, after snapping one of his beloved Santosha's. I tried to repair it and did an absolute shiite job. .
There were several others that got into shaping kneeboards after Greg went east. Lindsay Parks shaped a few, tried to teach a guy the finer points, but never went on. I think the guy who shapes Delta shaped a few. I remember some guys out at Mainbreak surfing them.
I moved east in late 99 and it's great to see a new name moving the sport forward in WA.
