What is the best way to determine where to put them on the board? I can never seem to get it just right.

Check your old board(s) for the knee wells caused by the impact of your knees.

With knee bent at 90 degree measure distance between top of knee and ankle / bottom of foot. Add 1 to 2 inch. That is the distance in front of the rear fin on the board for the front of the pad. You create the drive from the ankle area for your turns. If the front of your knees are at the front of the pad your possion should be correct

If the board design is radically different from the old board, then it is a challenge. I recently scraped a new pad off, and reinstalled it 2 inches forward

heh. I like. I always wanted to sleep with my boards but there was never any room because of all the teddy bears. Plus those board cover zippers are so hard to fumble with in the dark.... Plus that Honey wax is so hard to get out of your teet...

Heh. Where was I?... Hmm

What gumby said sounds good.

In a way, pad placement depends on whether you wear flippers.

With flippers place your ankle above the oustside fins for best turning. This will give you the position of your knees.
This will give you the pos. of your pads.

..... unless your fins are in the wrong place. :)

Without flippers? I wouldn't know. sorry.

Or you could ride the board for a while without pads, till you develop some kneewells in the deck then place the pads over the dents.

put you flippers on and then check where your knees fall on your board via the Gaynon bed measuring method.
throwing a sheet over yourself and making sucking tube noises to simulate a gaping barrel are purely optional

Paul, the board I got from you...the pads were too far forward. I talked to hart and he gave me the exact dimensions from the nose of the board and the board works perfectly. I really think depending on which type of board...Aussie versus romo type really dictates where the pads go???? My 2 cents, KEL
