South East QLD and Northern N.S.W Cripple Stick Enthusiasts
I think, therefore I UMM.
Hi, I've been surfing for thirty five "odd" years. All kinds Of boards; but I stopped riding kneeboards about 16 years ago.............that changed earlier this year when a little voice in the back of my mind finally wore me down and returned me to the dark side. Now the origional idea was to get a kneeboard and only ride it on really hollow days. Its a bit like opening that second bottle of red wine with the good intention of only having one glass. Yeh right!
Well I can't get off the bloody thing, totally hooked, kneeboard tragic and loving it. I don't need to give the reasons why, as I'm sure you all know.
I'm not into posting to much on this site, but enjoy reading what goes down each day. Better to keep your mouth shut and make people think your an idiot, than to open it and remove all doubt.
OK here comes the ID 10 T.
I know there are a reasonabe number of kneeboarders in QLD and Northern N.S.W, so was thinking (yes I know that can be dangerous) we should try and organise some kind of gathering next year. Broken Head just south of Byron Bay, maybe? Now I know the subject heading refers to South East QLD and Northern N.S.W, but its not restricted to people in this area.
Nothing much has happened with kneeboarding in this region since the decline of the D'bah contests, so it would be nice to get something happening again. Not necessarily a contest.
Well I've started it lets see where we go from here

Sounds feasible RM; no not the fart, the idea.
Don't know when I can make it at this time of year. I'm heading over to WA in the next couple of weeks and then up to the Sunshine Coast after that.
Sundays are good with me as long as I'm on the coast.
Lets work on it.
Thats a start.
No RM I said start, not fart.
ahhh thats better....................can you smell something funny?

Yes I know this travel thing sounds great, but let me clear the air.
Its all work related and surfing takes a back seat; that might stink, but thats the way the wind blows. Anyway thats the guts of the situation.
Don't think I will be heading up to the spit this Sunday with the Indy on, all that traffic and road closures gives me the tom tits.
I'll know more about my work obligations later this week, but think mid to late November would be OK.

Rhyming slang; as in "apples and pears" means stairs.
Trouble and strife............Wife.
Tom tits............ s-h-?-t-s.
Its an Aussie thing. Originated fron the Cockney people from England, back in the day.
Its usually pretty easy to understand.
Then again in OZ we do call redheaded blokes Blue.

OK now were getting somewhere, I knew you guys were out there somewhere. Its just like the X Files. Looks like we could get a half decent gathering of kneeboard aliens organised.
JD my family and I live at the back of Currumbin, so were not to far from you.
Stay in touch.
Hey RM a de-stink-ed lack of flatulence getting air in this post.
I had better pop off now.

Hey RM hope you didn't have to drive to far today in search of a decent wave. I stayed down on the southern end, but it didn't really cut the mustard.
Back to the origional topic; with yourself and some, JD + 1 and 1+1 and 1 and me and none, we are slowly moving towards some kind of a gathering.
As they say...... "From little things big things grow"........................
....well thats what I've been telling the trouble and strife fore years.
OK boys the balls back in your court, lets get this party on the road.

Been thinking along these lines myself but as far as driving all the way to the spit for a crowded sunday morning surf i'd rather drill holes in my teeth.
oh sorry i've been away for two weeks surfing perfect 4' [ solo ] reef breaks
Where was i, oh yeah maca, i know why you want the location at the spit close for you, but i'm with womble & JD etc i used too live at currumbin and it got crowded but i've seen the light & as you know i'm now a cocky and although not converted where it counts [ origin ] still sold on the lack of crowds & extra swell that hits the tweed coast. Case in point yesterday morning [ sunday] 3-4' glass makable barrels on a peak by myself sure there were other guys out but every one had there own "uncrowded" break
As for wombles choice of broken well that gets like the points on the goldy
But it should be a roving thing with conditions & predictions of swell & wind a major factor with a last minute choice, i for one don't want to surf dribble [ mainly cause i'm old and i just don't want to ] & this time of year has to be the worst for waves. With N/E winds being predominant some times blowing all night it's going to be hit & miss mostly miss. Cheerful sod aren't i AB
