Mark, I've always had best results with heating the immediate area your peeling up with a blow dryer, just a few inches at a time, trying to keep the "peel up angle" fairly flat (might lessen the amount of adhesive that stays behind). If you do this outside in the hot sun this will accelerate the process ( as well as heatstroke ) , and ice cold beers will taste that much better. Kinda hard on the fingers, if you have a set of asbestos workgloves lying around, nows the time. Remove all excess adhesive with warm beer.
Kneeboarding since 1976; always searching for the ultimate sled, always in awe and grateful for the work of master craftsmen, Romanosky, Frye, Cleary, Mc Cray, Timpone, Ballestar, Minami, Hart.

I removed my Blast pad by using a hair dryer and a scraper. It took me about day to remove slowly. I heated small area at a time then use the scaper. Oh...And a least a way more than two beers!!! As for myself a 12 pack...Maybe more!!

You can speed things up by soaking a rag in kerosine (white spirits or thinners) and jamming the rag into the crack. This softens the glue and makes it gummy. Then the hair dryer and judicious tugging and scraping.

PS If you tug too much the wings fall off

try wax on your board and kneepads on your wettie.
This thread is right up there with, "how do I remove old wax from my board"

To reapply the pad to a board (assuming the removal was successful) do you use contact cement?

Recap

To remove deck pad from board.

Use:

Patience, a putty knife or paint scraper, solvent such as paint thinner even WD40 works well, apply heat.

Scrape, pour, wait a minute, peel, scrape, pour, wait a minute, peel, scrape, pour, wait a minute, peel etc etc.

Can be done in 15 minutes.

I don't bother to try and remove any adhesive left on the board.
Just scrape off any residual pad bits and apply new adhesive or pad set over old.

To reapply pad:

Use contact adhesive (follow directions exactly) or 3M Brand Super 90 spray adhesive works well or Cobond brand spray contact adhesive.
WARNING !!! Consumption of alcoholic beverages during these processes can result in injury, death or worse....brain damage.

Yes.Weldwood,3M,either brush on or spray on.I prefer brush on;more control.Might outline the area, then slightly rough up the surface.Follow the directions carefully.Probably be a bit of excess that will run out the edges when the pads make contact to the deck.Which is Better that than having a pocket of air under the pad edge, which will create problems.....I know...... Washing the deck with fresh water will remove any salt residue

I see bud gone in there before me!... you get get the double whammy... Better too much info than not enough....

cheers

and if you do the work in a small, confined, unventilated area, you can skip the beers. (not that I would recommend it, skipping the beers that is)

And while in small confined area, you might also want to skip the use of a heat gun or hair dryer or any other electronic device...... SERIOUSLY skip that part

Watch out for delamination using heat guns or blowdryers.$$$
