Hi Guys,

I think it is about time to give a huge amount of credit to those wonderful kneelos who give us other kneelos the great images of our sport.

Years ago in the dark Grom age of late 70s and early 80s we had a splatter here and there of kneelo pics in mags, my mates and I would droul over the George Greenough articles on boards mats whaterver or the spread of a 19 year old Dave Parkes (now 50) and Ken Horton, Steve Artis on design, or the gutsy Ron Romanoski at the Wedge, and then a bit later those great cutbacks at North Narrabeen of who we now call Big Nov. (Coz he has two young rippers with the same name).

Now though there is a constant barrage of Maxb and friends at Mentawis or those OVEREXPOSED rippers at OZ PIPE, thanks Slats and Steeno, Mr and mrs Satchell at the comps and recently Feralmick and his hilarious Videos and John Cullen for his recent pics at Coffs, who can forget the carismatic Mike fernandez freelance kneelo photo journalist and all of those I forgot

Who can forget Simons videos over the years. I think his first Sparrow film has been worn out more than a few times. And George and those amazing images from a huge 16mm film rig on his back, in an aluminium waterproof housing on a kneeboard that barley floated

Hey Budgie,
gotta agree mate these guys are involved in the media that keeps us all stoked and they do it so well and often that when I'm working during the week and don't get to see the water in daylight hours it's the only thing that keeps me going. Just recently came across The Australian Surfers Journal with an 18 page set of articles on the Endangered Species(THE KNEELO) a bit of a slanted point of view but has some awesome shots, dated 1997. I will try to scan it & post it in the near future - some may have seen it already but it was new to me.

Couldn't agree with you more Greg.

And while we're taking the time to reflect and do some backslapping between swells I think a massive thanks also has to go out to our Big Brothers in the USA for putting together this site and allowing it to become a world wide kneeboard site for all of us to use (and sometimes abuse).

The kneelo history, technical info, opinions on design, opinions on fin placement( on the feet or off the feet), political statements, jokes, photos and general comaraderie that come from the site cannot have a value put on them.

hey budg, spot on i only wish there were guy's up here like that. i used to take heaps of pics but now i just want to get out there n surf. when you get near the magic 50 every session is a bonus. Hope your making the most of that swell down your way cause as of last friday it's been totally flat here. 30 + deg. but flat. Although after the coffs comp it pumped up here, had a chance with solid 6'+ beachies to surf that new 6'1''
thought fug it nobody seems to want it so I stuck a set of front set fins in her and fug me it flew, after about 3 waves i started pushing it verts under the lips n sh*t and the 5'10'' crescent tail keeps getting better n better AB

I think anyone who saw your boards at Coffs were impressed, I know I was, just haven't got the disposables at mo. Great to meet up with you and put a face to the voice to the avatar .
We got some good swell down this way after Coff also, didn't start back to work 'til 17th. Your near 50 ?? man this veterans age group is getting harder and harder without you coming of age too
