Being a grom...

Post by surfnut »

Or is that "grommette" (like the thing you put in canvas??) Whatever, I guess I'm young for the kneeboard community ( 42), and having lots of fun learning.

Related question about the demographics of the kneeboard community: are there any other WOMEN kneeboarders around? Or am I starting a trend here?

THE AVERAGE age of kneelos checking out this site CAME OUT AT ABOUT 44, about five years ago though the membership was smaller.

I can identify with all you guys at a pretty fundamental level.

Far better to be fifty summink and going on seventeen than the other way round.

See Nicole? You scratch the surface and underneath we're all the same kind of unique individual: immature, self-indulgent, obsessed ... and stoked to be so. All in all one very happy little bunch of somewhat wrinkled grommets.

I missed it... by THAT much!

Hey Hoppo / Centeral Cal kneelos... the family is heading to Ragged Point late Friday-Sunday.

Looks like a solid swell will be there.

!. Any suggestions? (PM please!)

2. Wanna surf? (caveat: need to claim time from the family... closer is better!)

Hey Surfnut
True there are not too many female kneeboarders.
Up where i live, there is a pretty good kneboarder named Karen. Her husband shapes boards and she works in Big Sur and surfs up there alot.

Kneeboarder's Age today

Post by ss54 »

I'm 55,but train for surfing these Flexspoons. . . .
Only 8lbs heavier than I was at age 21. . .Coopers Lager,I guess.
Play & practice Tennis 3 times a week for at least 2 hrs a session with a really fit & competent 24 yr old mate. . .
Plus weight workouts 1-2 nights a week,at home, with the same young fella. . .
For me, moderate weight, but high reps

I find the full-on tennis workouts are more benificial than swimming laps-even with flippers on-for strengthening the legs.

I wonder how many of KB'ers out there, over 40 have a surf specific training programme?

I note "Surfing World" from their next edition, are running a regular Surfing Fitness/Training Regime, written by the personal trainer of Mark Matthews ( Bra Boy - Big Wave Charger).

The movie "Bra Boys" has a great "extras" section where Mark M,& Richie Vas go through some of their training sessions(don't know if I'd be up for the Cage Fighting gig,at my age, that Richie V,is into. . . f.... that!!)
Flex-It's all about "how it feels"
