and at size in the winter it leaves 3 places to surf with 4 guys to a boat and 900 land owners(there are 900 landowners + sububans of "friends).Much better to go after lots of swell and winter weather...it's not the ranch it use to be.Best to go in alone or with one guy max.leave the group hugs at home.

Everything in Santa Barbara was lit up tonight. Morning was good with a crowded el cap, but other spots nearby had light crowds and long rights.

Evening was bigger but shape a bit worse. Atleast the tides are good.

all good info, the ranch dosnt seem to be like it was when i was sailing some time ago. i spent three weeks on the hook at governments surfed until i ran out of oatmeal and water. the island has blocked the shot over the bigger waves here. still well shaped waves to be had depending on your crowd tolerance. i sacrificed size for some private rides yesturday. didnt even use any gas , pedal power!

it's a sad day indeed, when just about any spot in SB will be less crowded than most Ranch spots.

i asked a photog if he got any good pics of kneeboarders. he said he got some really great shots of me , he went on and on about how many good waves i got. im thinking .....well i did have that one right when i got all crossed up ,stall warning going off ! beeeeeeep beeeeep beeeep. miraculous recovery. then he says, that yellow board of yours hauls ass.

i dont ride a yellow board. all the shots he got were of joe evaporating seawater doing scorching turns on his new board! ill try to gather them up and post them. im still laughing!
