I received a bizzare text today.
A friend of mine sent me this.
I hope it isn't Kenny H.
My friend revived a kneeboarder Kenny who drowned at 54th at 8am today in good barrels

More, just in from my Bro Danny.
It turns out that the guy from Newport Surf Shots.com worked on him.
I'm still not sure it is but it sounds like Kenny Hiningford (not confirmed).
The KBer's was traveling in the barrell, when he fell off, his board got sucked up high in the tube then came down and cracked him on the head. Some kids saw him floating face down but got him in quickly.
Reports say he was kind of blue in color but pupils did react.
He was taken away by ambulance to Hoag Hospital.
Not sure of his condition or official identity.
In either case I hope he is ok and I'm saying my prayers.

Tom it is Kenny H. that was the kneeboarder rescued today. He has head
and neck trauma and sea water in his lungs. He inddeed drowned and if not
for the quickness of several local surfers whom pulled him from the water
and an Anaesthesiologist who was on the beach to resussitate him he would
be dead! He's at Hoag Mem Hosp and is conscious and in good spirits per
Max B and Greg "swivel."
Kenny is one unlucky/ lucky dude. Our hope and prayers for a complete
and speedy recovery, Big Guy.

Yes Mark, I was triing to get Kenny's home phone and left a message and appologize for not being more consice,it was Kenny Max had called me and I was triing despertly to reach his wife and because of your involvment with KSUSA gave it a shot. I spent the afternoon at Hoag Hospital and his Wife Michelle was contacted and with him now, he has been under going test and ,MRI lookin pretty good and wait and see with C.T. scan...He is in good spirits and will be admited for observation and evaluation .All in all God was shinning on him today and Kudoz to all of those gromz that acted quickly and espeically to Kenny and Max's Long time Friend Tom Koazck who was first on the beach to actually resesitate him...Kenny'z in good pysical shape from conditioning and at 53 is proof that we as Young getting older, a Krazy Breed can at any time pay our dues in full with our GO FOR IT attitudeand to get barreled! Keep Kenny and His Family close at heart and in our prayers! Hope to see him in the line up soon!!!And ALL of our Brethern recovering from various old worn out bodies and repairs!!! Mark hope to see you soon as well, as I've been offline for some time and hope you are recovering from your knee injury!

Our prayers go out to Kenny and his family for a quick and speedy recovery. Hope to see you out there again soon. Our prayers also go out to the family/ girlfriend of the person who lost his life today at Point.
Many thanks to the 54th Street Crew who helped out Kenny. Those stand ups really stood up for one of us kneeboardrers. Just got off the phone with Max B, and things sound promising for Kenny.

Just got off the phone with Michelle (Kennys wife) he is in good spirits and is very thankful to the guys that were around him. Tom Cozad was on the beach shooting when it all took place. Damn glad he was.
I'm not going to get into all the details, but his board hit him, and then he hit the bottom ,so for him to not be paralyzed is a miracle. Geoff,Pat ,Craig,Tom ,and the other guys who came together to save somone who has been a fixture at newport for many years, maybe longer than some of those surfers have been alive. THANK YOU for saving my friend
Max
P.S. when Tom called me right after it happened I flipped.
