West Oz SMOKING

Post by micko »

Only once or twice in a lifetime that we see a cyclone swell this far south. Amazing what a different swell angle can do

Nice shots, couldn't quite put my finger on where a few of them were. Any of the indiana boys cash in? I missed everything as usual at work again..You decided on another board yet micko?

New board

Post by micko »

Yeah I ended up with a Strapper from Mike Discassio (SP?) in Vic, pics are in the album hereabouts. Still not sure what I think about it, it really needs a bit of juice. If you can't get in a bottom turn it wallows but when I get the chance to do the bottom turn, top turn combo, it cranks. Not really suited to small sucky beachbreaks where you take off and tuck in, but hey, it doesn't hurt to have a quiver does it. :D Rails are much harder than any other board I've had, none of this pumping speed turn stuff, just long drawn out lines. Conversely though once I get up speed it turns on a 10c piece and doesn't lose speed. Like I said I've not quite got my head around it yet, only thing I do know is it has to be surfed off the tail.
Just have to go surfing more I guess. Damn.

some pics are of Mitchell Rocks + some from Other Side of the Moon,
no real secret and unlikely to see them ever like that again...
not many would have headed down due to the forecast which was completely wrong plus early that day the swell was small, it didnt get going untill after lunch, new movie on Coastalwatch shows how heavy
it was
