Mid-beach: Crumbly it was...but was also a glassy afternoon, sunny and surprising length of ride

Worth a peek :)

Surfed my first hurricane swell (Isaac) as a great grandfather at South Padre Island Texas. Wonder what I will be riding when my great great comes along?

Congrats old man! They'll have to invent a special kneelo division for guys like you at the next World Contest.

SOUTH SWELL IN OC REPORT

Post by Casey Patelski »

Saturday say huge 8-10ft faces at 56 street Newport, wally connecting peaks. 66-68 degree water. I saw Kelly charging a few with Max and Kenny. I made a run to Bolsa to see if conditions were any cleaner. They were 6-7ft long walling peaks. More makeable choices. So I surfed. But the next day Sunday was really cleaned up and same size Bolsa style peaks. Really big water faces and hits. I surfed till I couldnt move my arms. I heard the Wedge was 20ft on sets pile driving. Im stoked like I havent been in months! Casey

The Wedge just looks like carnage this last weekend, including the few standup surfers who ventured out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5Df8jD53xA
