California Kneeboard Contest Circuit 2012!!!

Post by Mike Fernandez »

Hello all.
I was talking to the head of the NSSA about having kneeboard heats in their contests, and they said yes. I explained about our KSUSA Nationals, and the Worlds every couple of years, and I think they were impressed. I told them there were some guys who are interested in competing more often.
Here's the deal.
If you want to compete, you must become an NSSA member at $120. a year. Contests are $55. each entry. Minimum of 12 kneelos for each contest. They have 10 contests a year combined in two conferences. One is from Huntington to San Diego, the other is Ventura to Morro Bay. A bunch of contest locations within each conference, so you can travel.
The next contest season starts in August. We need to have at least five contests filled up for it to be worth it to them, and to have the trophies made. They can't order trophies, and not have anyone show up. We can pick the locations within the two conferences ourselves.
I think I covered it for now.
So if you Huntington guys want to smoke the San Diego boys just like in the old days, or if you northern boys want to take off your wetsuits, and get smoked in warm water, this is your chance. :P
Ok, I'm full of crap.
Here's an opportunity, I think the only one right now.
Anyone up for it, remember you must become a member, and pay for at least five contests ahead of time in August.
Mike out.

I'm in.

$400 is pretty steep, but I guess I'll show up for sure now.

I like the idea of the northern contest circuit! Just gotta find enough kneelos to go in on it. Thanks for doing the leg work on this, Mike!

I like the northern contests too. 4 of them around my area so it might be doable if I can come up with the money.

This is great news. I have been talking with the surf coach at my kids school. He thinks it would be easy to get kneeboard heats in the SSS (Scholastic Surf Series). All it takes is a few schools with one kneeboarder each.

This has possibilities, especially for upcoming juniors. The cost may be a shock but this is very inline and even cheap for any modern organized sporting event.

maybe we could agree on specific events to make a more concrete schedule?
I would most likely attend a well rounded circuit
I would vote for:
Santa Cruz event
Seaside Reef in SD
San O Uppers (are you sure its not churches?)
Morro Bay
Oceanside or HB
Ventura C st (is it at the point or backside?)
