Well if you like double overhead short period swell you could have had all you wanted today at OB. I surfed a few hours alone only catching a couple waves. Lots of work not lots of fun but I really needed to get in the water to clear my head. Today that was good enough. Hope others found a spot making better use of the swell.

Well, I did my annual pilgrimmage to Rincon yesterday... It felt like I was out for three and a half hours to watch others surf, drop in on people, and be dropped in on... I saw some serious burning going on. Not at all what I'm used to. It's enough to take away your hope in humanity. Kind of a bummer. I did get one primo set wave my first wave. How sheltered am I to think Rincon on a Saturday might be a good call? I'll never do that again. But man what a wave...

If there is nobody there to see the tree fall, how do you know it fell. I on the other hand did hear the waves breaking, I was riding them.
Fish, I thought you were coming out today.
Tomorrow will be bigger, but no combo south in it, so will have to look for corners.

I'll vouch for ya Spaniard. Ler, Jerry. Mutiny and myself were surfing just north of you today. I could not believe our good fortune. Some great barrels for sure.
Love it when you're surprised and the majority has no clue
A special day INDEED

No need to be, it was a very rare instance. If it was common, I wouldn't have written about it.

Mike, since you lead a charmed life of surfing great swells when no one else is around (remember that New Zealand GoPro video of you alone on that sizable swell there?), maybe you can help me out. I'm writing this from Ho Chi Minh City, staring out my hotel window at the very flat and glassy Saigon River. Can come over here so I can witness a miraculous and epic tidal bore suddenly come to life and roar through, and you alone to score it!
Of course, the pollutants will delam your board (and you kidneys) about halfway through the session, but I'll film it all from my vantage point!
BTW, I'd rather go left at Mavericks than ride a motorscooter in these crowded city streets. Never seen anything so scary, with a families of four packed onto a single scooter, and an infinity of other drivers all sandwiched into one mass of chaos heading in every direction at once. I gaze out my cab window in absolute disbelief!
