A while back at the same spot, a guy paddles up and asks me " is that a kneeboard?" Yea, I say and he says "Wow, just like George Green Bro, cool."

On Saturday a footie asked me what kind of kneeboard I was riding, " is it a Haydu?" Dated himself and me, for I remember when Haydu's were the bomb! His memory of kneeboarders was that they ripped and ruled the barrel @ Zooport back in the day... Still do!

last month a guy asked me "where is your strap?" which is more personal than the usual banter in the lineup.

anyway, he thought kneeboarders place a strap over their legs after popping-up. nothing would convince him otherwise. he suggested i try one.

kids on lids

Post by Justin »

Was out at Pink Rocks one afternoon when the easterly wind finally swung round to the south and the sun came out. I've just pulled off a wave after a joy barrell section in front of this kid on a lid and he's gone, "Is that a kneeboard? What's it like?" So I told him, "It's just like double drop-knee!"

True story: I'm out at Hospitals one day and as I get out of the water, a father and young son come walking past me on their way for a surf.

The Dad nods as they walk past and says "I like your kneeboard"
and the grom says "Dad, is he a barrel-rider?"
The Dad says "Yes he is"...
"Tomorrow is a promise to no one."

 Ego booster!Always good to hear the positive stuff.

A few yrs back.I'm surfing a local spot called the boneyard.3ft and real slooooow...nothing else breaking.Mostly kids and beginners and a few cute girls.I'm constantly cutting back trying to maintain some speed... I'm paddling back out and this little cutie is laughing up a storm. As I paddle past she says...Ooooohhhhhhh you looked like a seabird ''swooping''across the waves.... :lol:After that I got tagged with the name...birdman!

cheers.
