Today with EQ and Randy...

Post by Bob »

Nice tube Scott at about 12:15 pm. I saw it from all the way down the beach.
Guy in green car. Randy said you didn't know me.
We met a few years ago in the water at 4 mile. You were on a red board that day,

Great seeing you, Bob.

This week has been mental.
Everyday has been "6-10ft, 12ft sets, Good-Epic Conditions" on Surfline.
(Check OB SF FORECAST... its on for another week.)
And Everyday someone has gotten their "Best Wave of The Year".
Today was Wessling, yesterday was Don, day before i watched The Creediler get maybe the best wave ive seen EVER at OB. DOH backlit bomb he did the biggest Bottom Turn on and just parked in a perfect barrel all the way down the beach.
It was slow motion. 10 outta 10. Never in doubt, not a drop of water out of place.

I had two waves on Monday i will remember for years to come.

Oh, and today there were 9 Kneelos out.
Been a Kneelofest everyday.

Gotta take a break from OB tomorrow and hit The Channel with Kman.
Happy New Year

Thanks for reintroducing yourself to me, Bob. Yes, a red board at 4 Mile--loved that board. My memory for faces and names occasionally betrays me and my daughter just bought me a high-end memory program--"use it, dad!" she said emphatically...

Glad we all had a surf together. My son-in-law was on the cliff filming and said the kneelos pretty much were dominating, making so many waves and a minimum of wipeouts. I think today for me really highlighted what an excellent kneeboarding wave is Ocean Beach, and how challenging: from the torturous paddleouts, to the cross currents and rips, to the shifting lineups, to the waves going right, or left, or perfect split peaks. Everything a surfer has learned over all his years gets brought to the table during sessions like this. That barrel was all time for me and I hope I can keep its memory well-etched in my mind. Makes me wonder what the Creedlier's barrel must have been like!!!

Scott looks like all the kneeboarders at OB have been getting some great waves. EQ up from Huntington and looks like more waves on the way. Was Jamie also their. It would have been great to see 7 or eight kneeboarders having a ball. I hope the shower at the car is getting plenty of use as I see it is freeeeeezzzzing. Look forward to next time and I wish you all at OB a happy new year and plenty of good waves. The last lot of pics was great and I hope to see more.

Whoa!
I never said where it was....

It was just somewhere that had good waves and everyone got a couple of good ones but the lulls were long and there were way too many closeouts.
Very few people got more than a few waves.

Fun, but not worth flocking to...it is just a beach break, after all.

Love the enthusiasm, however, and good to see some of you guys again.

Don't go off on me for the last post. It was meant with no bad intent.
Those that know me, know that.
I know all these guys that responded to my original post. And I know the spot in question is no secret, I just choose to be courteous to the few locals that are left. And no, I am not one, despite surfing there for 30 years and knowing most of them and their kids.

Just sharing an insight that people might not have thought about.

All good, Bob. (But notice I didn't say where in the 5 miles of beach we surfed.)

Best thing about "the beach that will not be mentioned" is that it always takes care of itself. I'd say at least 80% of the waves go unridden even when it's packed.... And it's been pretty packed all week.

Love it.

(Oh, and I'm 5th Generation San Franciscan... I claim local status on everyone. 8) )

That would be amazing, Fish... Like EQ says, five miles of beach...

No problem, Bob. I guess I don't (or haven't) thought of OB as one of "those breaks not to mention", of which I am quite careful. Every day I can log into norcalsurfphotos.com and see a hundred pics from the previous day (take a look at 12/27, for example--the day we were all just out), certainly every good day. I'll use the initials, though, in the future, as I often have.

Quite a break...

I'm into shark territory now and I brought my 6/4mm just incase. My thermometer said about 55F, but I wore my 3/2mm and was ok. Surfed a reef with my Friar Tuck.

I'm not driving almost thousand miles to surf beach breaks.
I'm at a left reef now in a town located inside the Red Triangle. A bandito named Tuco was trying to shoot the cowboy who lives here.
Waiting till morning.
