board bag fees?

Post by C J Gagner »

I know this subject is touchy and has been brought up before. Has anyone flown Alaska to Hawaii from San Diego? If so what is there normal board bag charges. I looked on the web site and its a little confusing. I just want to know how much they are gonna ding me for a one board bag.
Though the course may change sometimes rivers always reach the sea!!!!

I fly Alaska exclusively. So long as your bag is under 117 inches and under 100lbs, it's $75 each way. I usually travel with 4 boards and my bag stuffed to the hilt- never an issue.

Hey CJ,

I flew Alaska to Oahu Jan, 2013 and I think it was $50 (two boards in 1 bag) and free on the way home. The 2 people at the counter couldn't figure out what the charge was so they just let it go 8)

On the other hand....we went to Nicaragua in July on American and it was $150 each way for the single bag (2 boards) But knowing the charges ahead of time helps with planning so you don't stress at the counter.

Best of luck!

Be careful and know fees in advance. Some airlines will open your bag and charge you their fee PER board!

Good luck and safe & happy travels.
