Flex Spoon Reboot

Post by AM_Glass »

It's been awhile, but recent events have stoked my interest in my spoon kneeboard. It sat for a long time needing layers sanded off to allow more flex. I got around to it last week and put it in the water for some of the mixed swell at OB.
Waves weren't great for testing the flex, but I got a few bowls that allowed me to regain my late drop confidence on a kneeboard.
I sanded the deck and fin to where I like them, but will be sanding the bottom every few sessions until it feels right. I painted the deck quickly just so the thing isn't such an eyesore.

I'm stoked to get it back in the water, and now is the time of year for surfing!
It could be worse, I could be in Oakla-homa.

Yeah, those lines are what I got using tape. The 50-grit surface didn't hold tape well so there was leaking under it, it is hard to tape curves, and the paint I was using doesn't release from the tape. Instead it wants to peal with the tape and lift more paint with it. If I did it over I would use spray paint and buy narrower tape, but this was a "what's around the shed" type job.
Anyway, it matters more how it works than how it looks!
