A Blast 4fin pintail ain't a bit weird tomost kneelos.

try just sliding your left (or right if your goofy) knee up so you can plane better.

With a foot up on deck you can shift weight MUCH faster, and with more leverage, than moving yer stumps around, and allows you to kneel a bit farther back on the board.

btw, I kept putting my foot up coming off dk bodyboarding, feels awful now!

I rarely flop a foot up; depends on the wave and my mood. Normal double-knee works just fine, and leaning fore and aft is almost always enuf to rim out as needed. YMMV

Yep, always fins unless I forget to pack 'em.

I've had reason to be thankful to be wearing them a few times over the years,on big days, after receiving royal floggings and losing the board.

Maybe Olympic swimming has the answer:

Australian swimmer Thorpe has size 17 feet
US swimmer Phelps has size 14 feet.........and a 73 inch wingspan.

Maybe we should all be freaks of nature.........

Yesterday we took the typical Sunday going-to-the-beach drive to Jones Beach, West End II (LI, NY). As expected, the jetty wasn't working, and a dropping tide and onshore winds pushing a 2' windswell. A beauty of a day, the sun was high in a cloudless sky and the water was still a toasty 70F so I got a salt bath ... definitely a time to go fliperless! It was quite fun, with a few good connecting rides. Even got a few "crouching standup" rides, too.

Going back ther again this afternoon, too. 8)

finz

Post by K-man »

mornin,
Since my boards are pretty narrow, fins are a nusiance. But,whe I figure what my next board will be,going for wider will solve the problem-Some of these spots break ''out there'' and a long swim with flips will make for a easier swim.

IMO, another good advantage of flippers is the workout yer lower body gets. In any event, when the waves are juicy I'll definitely wanna slip into a pair of Vipers before the paddle out ... YMMV.
