So Cal Scrimmage – Are You Ready for Santa Cruz?
The KSUSA Titles will be held Nov. 18, 19 and 20 at Pleasure Point in Santa Cruz. More than 80 competitors are expected. As a warm-up, Tom Linn and I will be hosting a scrimmage/coaching session on Saturday, Sept. 25 from 6:30 a.m. to about 9:30 a.m. at Oceanside Harbor. The idea is to give people a chance to surf a few mock heats, talk a little strategy, ask questions and have fun. You will also likely be doing some judging. The scrimmage is intended for competitors of all skill levels. It will be videotaped – so you can do your own self-analysis. A $10 donation to KSUSA is requested for each participant – payable at the beach. We’ll be limiting the number of participants to 12. If there’s strong interest we may hold additional sessions. Please send me a PM if you plan on being there and I’ll add you to the RSVP list.

Way to go EQ! Although we won't be holding any discussions on "How to get your vehicle to Santa Cruz in one piece."
Dan - NoCals are welcome to join us but we're gonna make you wear a 4/3!

Thanks for the scrimmage offer but I will choose to be scrimmaging and honing the skills in Big Sur at the Kneelo Gathering. It will be a Great time to be together with the kneelo clan whichever event you choose to be at on that weekend.

oops ... sorry Jack, I know I'd said I was going to help, but may not have officially thrown my hat in. Lest I show up all bright and early only to get skunked, I'm in.
btw, John Eckert has some fabulous photos from O'side from last weekend on his site, including a series of pics showing some dolphins surfing. I told him we'd be at oside that weekend if he was around. Check it out at grandviewsurfing.com

hot enough for ya?
we're never going to be ready for Santa Cruz on account of the water temp hasn't dropped below 70 in weeks. Ice baths anyone? That's the kind of training I'm talking about!
Weather reports are calling for water temps upward to 75 in some areas I've heard, now that the swell has dropped again. No complaints, if I never have to wear a wetsuit again I'm happy (not that it's all that good for the critters, el nino, global warming, etc).
Surfrider paddle for Clean Water this Sunday the 12th at OB pier.

I replied twice to intimidate Jack... "The guy is all over the place!!! "
AND..... it was not my car that broke down, but Sprocket's bucket-of-4Runner.
It a good thing I won't have to worry about that again this year since the US CHAMP(me) gets exclusive use of the plush KSUSA Tour Bus.

See you in O'side,
