I'd like to share accomodation for last week Jan/'til 10th of Feb.

Any Aussies with overlapping schedule and tight budget?

I snore, fart especially loudly and smellilyafter pork and beans and don't wake anyone up when I sneak out for an early surf. On the positive side, I don't complain too much about your snoring or farting habits.

Some advise needed please. Found some self catering accomodation that has vacancies at http://www.backpackers-hawaii.com/index.html
Some ok looking places, but you can only tell so much from the internet.
Anybody stayed there or have some idea of what their Beach House is like?
How is the location? Any good? At Three Tables Beach, next to Waimea Bay.
Any advise welcome before I book it (or not!!)
Cheers

I stayed in one of the bungalows there. The bungalows are one toilet and one shower, three bedrooms with two bunk beds each. Sheets but no towels. There's a big house and smaller bungalows, I can't speak for the big house. It's very cheap ($25/night), and a decent location. Foodland and Starbucks a short walk away, and Waimea around the corner. Three tables beach across the street, but not much surfing nearby. Need a car or bike or bus to get to other breaks. There's not much in the way of amenities, furniture is second hand, no air conditioning, lots of chickens around the grounds, a single tv for the complex in a shed with the coin laundry and a ratty old couch. Cleanliness is highly dependent on who else is rooming there. A lot of kids and travellers passing through for only a night or two. It was ok as a bed and I didn't have any problems with security (but I was careful with my stuff). It's an adventure. Part of the fun.

Darcy, Thanks for the feedback. :?
Will be hiring a car so the transport shouldn't be a problem. Was looking at the 'Beach House' which is a private apartment (not the backpackers part), so there won't be any randoms wandering in and out of the house!! and the missus can have a bit of privacy too!!! Will carry on looking in the short-term to see if I can come up with anything else.
Cheers

the gathering

Post by ross »

you guys can count another 2 aussies in for the north shore this feb.after i failed to turn last years gathering into our honeymoon,me and my wife are keen to turn up in oahu this year.
if any of you guys have some spare floor or something we'd be happy to occupy it (cheaper for everyone :D!! ).i'm hoping we haven't left our run to late as i've been in cactus for a few months and have not seen a computer for as long.
i dont really know anyone on the list of aussies to attend although the names are familiar(i competed in the cadets and juniors of the aussie pro-ams in the late 80's and 90's),so i guess we'll be two new faces on the scene.
so if you spot me on the northshore.richard gere coloured hair at the age of thirty,(tragic i know.)looking like i should have trained harder for the trip and having a lay down on some lava reef, say hello
regards

I stayed here last time (2003).

http://www.teamrealestate.com/prop/4/

It was OK and had two bedrooms and a nice lanai. The only problem it was a bit close to the Highway so there was some traffic noise. The other units next to it were a bit nicer but more expensive. There was a seldom surfed reef break right out front. You can also walk to a couple of breaks to the north as well.

This time my family and I are staying in a quiet neighborhood west of Haliewa. A bit more of a drive to the breaks but more relaxing for the family. Good luck
