I work in town (south), live on the windward side (Kailua) and surf whereever its good (usually not the south this time of year). PM me, we can go for a surf or two if you want. Jeff.
Sorry Bud jumped on post to you couldn't help myself, stoked on the whole gathering thing.

Curtis,
It's easy to meet up with them to surf the South Shore.
Just paddle out!
Alamoana Bowls, Kaisers, #3's, Alamoana Beach Park area, Diamond Head and Kewalo Basin is where you'll find them.
All the spots are strung along a short strecth of coast.
You can't miss them.
There's always a good chance there'll be surf on that side as well as out here.
It's an island.....we get swell from all directions......any time of year........sometimes at once!
Lately the East shore has been firing with a mix of wrap-around swell from this side and direct hit by a small swell to that coast.
The surf out near Malaekahana State Park where some of the crew will be camping has been superb for the last few days.
Out here it's beat to pieces by a strong WSW wind.
Over there it's like Indo.
I surfed the peak of the swell with just 3 guys.
Yesterday Don King took a few local pros and a whole TV production crew out there to shoot a Capri Sun Commercial.
My friend Russell from Santa Cruz surfed with them and said it was no problem gettting waves. He said there were only 8- 12 people out spread between 3 areas along the reef. Everyone was having a great time in the shoulder to head high flawless left zippers.

Curtis,
I'll be on Oahu the same week as you, and my wife and I will mostly be staying near Honolulu with friends. That means I'll take a number of day trips out to the North Shore to join all the rest of the crew. PM me and we can talk about how to hook up around the South Shore and drive up together. Or, as Bud points out, we can surf there if a rogue south swell appears. I know most of the spots pretty well around there after living in Honolulu for 3 years in the late 70's. The company on the drives would be fun!

karl Ward has already left the shores of Cornwall and is heading your way. Cannot wait to see the pics of him on the North Shore.
He has got three of the nicest boards I have ever seen (and I have examined many boards over the last couple of years - I can tell you). . The boards were designed by our own Mr Crox under the Offbeat label. Karl is going really perform on this equipment!
There is a great article about the top UK kneelos in a recent mag called Stranger. You can now view it on line at http://www.stranger-mag.com/index.aspx
