I surfed OB in the rain this morning. Kelly's had waist to shoulder high sets that were rideable on the inside sand bars. Pretty desparate though. The new 5/3 O'neil psycho was sweet!!!. Some parts of the inside didn't even get wet!!

I thought about hitting cronkite but paddled out at OB instead. Surf casters were catching 24 inch stripers at Noriega this morning saw three big ones caught in about 10 minutes.

Josh, my 6 year old, got beaned by a foul ball to left field at Giants/KC game last night. The ball bounced out of my hands and rolled to a fan about 6 seats away. The guy who ended up with the ball gave it him because he was crying so hard. It stopped the crying and put a smile on his face but he still had a bruise. He took the bruise and the ball to school today for show and tell. :D

Very cool on the ball, Syd... even though your boy got beaned.

What's NOT cool is the 8-1 loss, or today's 4-1 loss.

This has been a tough stretch for SF sports fans!

Just returned from SoCal on a quick trip to visit my daughters. Surfed Campus Point with one daughter on Sunday. I have 2 longboards stashed at her house...which is 2 blocks from the beach. 2-3 fun - first no-wetsuit go out fo the year. UCSB is the place to go if you surf.

MOnday morning stopped by Rincon on the way to Santa Monica to have lunch with second daughter. Minus tide and solid 2-3 with good 4 footers every set. Second Point was rifling across - would have been perfect for a spoon. But, like a fool, I was trying to beat the traffic so I booked it down the coast. Ended up surfing County Line beaches 3-4 with an occassional 5 on the sets. Grabbed about 6 waves in 30 minutes so I was happy.

Surfed Rincon yesterday but it was a shadow of the day before. Fortunately I had my 6 foot 5 fin KB so I could plow with the best of the LBers.

I still haven't learned my lessons: if it looks anywhere near decent - GO OUT NOW! I'll just have to wait for another good day to surf Rincon.

SF / Bay Area folk,
Father's day at the Beach?
6:30AM more or less?

Don't bother with a reply... do the stretch and look for kneelos.
If you have cell #s, call.

Happy Father's Day!

Mini Gathering at Blacks today :D
Sam and Shaun honoring their Dads, Joe and Martin, on Father's Day and
Chris Beresford and Steve Yamamoto.
Fun, clean, mild offshore peaks/walls. Dropping windswell with a touch of south.

TODAY at Windansea

Post by DarcyM »

A bit of the South showing today until the wind came up and it was pretty blown by about 3 pm. No pictures today, so this will have to do.

First wave was the best. I was paddling out, chatting with a friend, as one of the better sets came thru. I was still too far inside, so watched as the gang just ripped it to shreds. Thinking, I wonder if I should've brought my shorter board, it's bigger than I thought, hmmm ... Then before I know it I'm past the inside and the set's still coming. I turn around, there's a guy outside of me but he's too far outside and behind, he'll never make it, I don't even look. There's another guy inside, he might snake me, I better paddle like I mean it ... then my mind is telling me I'm too late ... but I've already called off the guy inside I HAVE to go!

In Flashpoint we trust ...

It totally came down to trusting that board. At the last possible nanonsecond I gave it one last kick and climbed on board. Rocket launch to the bottom, then look up at my friend paddling over the lip and then launch vertical up the face -- wham! off the top the straight back down flying now is it closing out -- no, section ahead launch it over -- float on the foam for a second and back down into the face, it's still lining up then hit the last section in front again before flying kickout off the back.

:D :D :D :D :D

that was a five-grin ride.

Just heard from Syd... so here's what happened.

Saturday AM. Don and I went for a fun surf at a very rare spot to be breaking this time of year. I punctured my hand getting over a fence, so I entered the water still kinda bleeding. It's a long paddle to get to the take-off... and right in shark country.

Since we got there at 5:15, we were surprised that two guys were on it. One of them was kneelo Tom. There were six guys, three of them kneelos. Some of the drops were getting pretty crazy, but the faces were nice!

After it started shutting down, we went in. As I'm picking my way through the rockpiles, a set came in and I had to duck. Just before ducking I heard a whistle. When I surfaced, I heard a whizzing sound and felt something flying across my back. Then I saw a hook fly right past my head. M-Fing fisherman!

Don and I met Sunday at the same time, and cruised the stretch. It set up better to the South. The paddle-out was under fairly clear sky, but the fog filled in quickly. We couldn't see shore. We thought we drifted North, but we actually went South.

The waves were actually pretty fun. They tended to have only one section or so, with an occasional lined-up wall. It was well worth the paddle. We stayed out until close to 9AM.

I hope somebody got some this AM... I bet it was still rideable.

Sewer Peak is about 4'-5' but the wind is on it. Low tide at approx 2PM so later this afternoon might be the call. My son & I are going to search out a peak somewhere here at the beaches.

Yesterday (fathers day) was really fun
plenty of steep drops, lots of barrels and fun 4 ft faces to work with,
and the wind was nice and calm
it was great to see the kneelo gang out representing,
but becuase it was fathers day i desided
to give him a present
so i drop in on a wave and stayed too high up in the lip and it all closes out, board slips from under my knees gets sucked up slams into my mouth and I take a bite out of my board, litterally,
thought i broke my jaw
but just cut the inside of my mouth a
bit from the fiber glass,
Joe was there to help
make shur i was alright (thanks )
Now my dad has a small new project .
:D happy fathers day!
