We are strongly considering postponing the gathering due to a horrid surf forcast through next Monday.

Building small SSW swell later today, peaking tomorrow and Wednesday, then
fading to virtually nothing by Friday (through next Monday).

Put out the word and check back for an OFFICIAL on or OFF tomorrow. So far we have talked to a lot of people and they are good with it. A possible go the following Saturday. I hope this does not screw you up. The surf has just been terrible lately.

I say go for the reschedule,that way I can go on vacation and still not miss the gathering and also hoping we finally get some decent surf cuz it has sucked big time lately.

Thanks for the tip!

There are however many people invoved in putting together this event on. It is a MUST that I speak to all the contributors in advance in respect of their time and families. Many of the people helping have other commitments and this makes it difficult at best to have everyone involved with the same day off.

I try to play the best tidal situation and such. As you know this has been an awful summer so far. Pray for surf as we may have it the following weekend.

yeah the surf here lately has really sucked! i was suprized they were even able to hold finals for the US Open yesterday
traditionally the larger south swell hit the O.C./S.D. area in late August thru September.

Probably a good idea to postpone the Gathering until the following weekend. Surf forecast calls for ankle to mid-shin slappers at best. Unfortunately I have to work the following weekend so maybe next time? Mark, Do you throw together more than one Newpt Gathering during the summer?? That dam Mother Nature!

We usually only do one a year but there are often impromtu sessions with numerous riders showing up a a spot. We get to know most peoples cars and use the cell phones. That way you get an idea where everyone is.

The surf has just been terrible lately.

I was hoping it was better down there and thus worth the drive. Sadness all around SoCal I guess.
