I think Rex Huffman and his brother Mark should be there, Steve Lis, and any kneelo from the 70's should be there. Mike Tyson should do water patrol and Bill Clinton should do commentary. Jack Beresford should be banned for steroids. :l  :) l: Or maybe I should check my meds. :)

Registration is set to close 12/7. At that point we can start making some decisions. If you are having problems registering online or whatever, PM me. YOU MUST REGISTER FOR THE OPEN IN ORDER TO GET YOUR FEES PAID. YOU WILL ALSO BE ENTERED INTO YOUR QUALIFYING AGE DIVISON AUTOMAGICALLY.

Financially, this contest costs a lot of $ to run. We CAN'T run it on our good looks so we need to keep this in mind.

We have a great list of sponsors who have donated product, a few generous soles who have donated cash and we are hoping to nail one or two more. We will be holding a silent auction throughout the event w/ some killer items up for grabs (condo on the North Shore, condo in Punta de Mita Mexico, insane Island Kneeboard shaped by Neil Luke, and heaps more!!!)

For anyone on the fence about what to ask for from Santa we've got you covered! Raffles are on the agenda as well with, boards, wetsuits, gobs of gear and holiday cheer.

Give us a few days and we'll roll out the word on the event. We've been planning for over a year and with the winter swells getting a late start we could be in great shape for the January time slot. November would have been a bust.

As for shortening the event by a day, we'll do what's right. We had to look at an event for 120 competitors and now that we have a better idea of the projected numbers we can tweak the days and if we can afford the time for slack days we'll do it. All it takes is money.

Thanks for your patience and enthusiasm. We look forward to hosting an event to be remembered. Make peace with the swell and weather Gods/Godesses during the holidays. Kneeboarding stands to show-off world class talent in California's premiere surf spots!

Cheers,

Don

The world kneeboard titles have been running as a stand alone event since 1993.
Australia is the only country to have hosted the event twice since its inception.
If you are a US mainland resident who is thinking maybe next time, consider that next time they return to the US mainland could be 10 years(going on time gap between New Zealand hosting twice) and at best will be 5 years(New Zealand is already slated to hold next event - to be confirmed by someone from ksi ?).
South Africa hosted the event in 1993 and it will be at least 18 years between world titles in SA if they ever hold them again.
That is a lot of time to spend wishing you went in the last one!

Dont be thinking what if in a few years time ?

If your not into competing or your just to much of a purist, go and have a look and see what all the fuss is about.
Check out what desperate competitive kneelos do on closeout sections, that you routinely kick out of to save paddling back out thru the inside section of your break.

Now you of all people should(do) know that things(or should I say priorities) change for a lot of us
I for one" would love to go and see what all the fuss is about" but for Family and monetary(?) reasons I basically can't.There are so many personalities out there that I'd love to put a face too.
Now please don't take this as a sledge it was that last bit that got me

Sorry Damo the last part of my post was a cynical attempt to awaken some of the guys in the US of A who i feared were going to let these World titles pass them buy.
If you bought into the last part maybe i should have sent you a similar message the last couple of times they were held in OZ.
If you didn't know already you are probably one of the very few guys that I personally think surfs as good or better than anyone i have seen at a comp.
I do remember convincing the narrabeen boys to hold one of the kneelo pro comps at Dee Why one year, just so you guys would go in it, and lo and behold who should win the frog :P and the cash :D

Ler and ScottMac - most of us have family, work and other committments, all the demographics tell us that most kneeboarders are old and therefore have to work.
I admit to living in a bubble(my own).
I admit(am stoked) to having a very understanding partner who has being on many a family holiday that allowed me to indulge myself and on this occasion will take care of the tin lids at home while i go surf and talk crap with other surfers for 5 days.
Since you guys bought into the thread I going to bat it back to you both personally - Ler
"just ain't happening this time around"
there most likely wont be another time around as i said in my last post

-Scott Mac you live in monterey bay or ther abouts and you cant make it
Its never going to be closer to you,
Jamie

Jamie
Your right on there. I have had to beg and borrow to get to the states this time. Work 5 kids and along way away have meant this. Some good friends over here and sponsors. I may have to sleep out on the beach or whereever I can find a bed but as you know myself that won't be the first time. Working 14 hour days to get there but I will be there.
Can't wait to catch up with everyone I know.
