KauaiKneelo- It's maybe 5 foot... 6ft tops. (Just like those 30ft Mountains of North Set Closeouts were only 8ft. )
Chris B is SUCH a sick surfer... and I LOVE his style! He's one of the few guys in the US who has been riding at board that is longer than he is tall for years. The guy RIPS!
I just would LOVE to see him on a 6'5" pintail... who KNOWS what kind of clinic he could put on for the rest of us.

wave
Interesting how in this age of digital communications a single documented wave can generate so much interest/discussion/debate. For years, we just went KBing and all the blown waves and heroics were witnessed by a handful who probably forgot it all before the next set arrived.
This was a special day, however, so it probably shouldn't be a surprise that this short clip generated such buz. Perhaps also because it's been such a lousy winter for big surf - at least here in SoCal.
Yeah - I'll have to give my brother a hard time about this when he gets back in town tonight. But the reality is he was one of a few charging hard that day. Personally, I caught three sets in about 90 minutes (later in the day from when this was shot) and made absolutely no effort to slow down long enough to pull in. It sure looks a lot bigger when you're at sea-level!
Jack
PS - in the slow motion, check the guy on the back of the wave clapping after watch Chris get dragged over. Classic.

i've been enjoying this thread.
i would like to highlight that i thought the footage was a great example of board failure. The guy obviously has the balls to take it on and as i said earlier that everything looked great till midway through the bottom turn.
and as far as wave scale is concerned, that is my own personal call and was not aimed at talking down the surfers efforts.
and yeah Jack if that was my brother i'd be all over him to

why are we taking this thread to somewhere it doesn't deserve to go
Chris Beresford takes this wave with an awesone stroke-in..he is charging to catch this wave
And charges it unreal!!!!
I am stoked with this thread and the opportunity to see it
now if anyone has an issue with the fact he seemed to come unstuck half-way thru his bottom-turn, then that can be an issue all its own I guess
hart
I reckon Chris wanted to make that wave..and not end up going over-the-falls and copping a hiding
makes nothing less of the surfer but, just because he did
