My particular form of insanity!

Post by Bryan Jackson »

Willi, if you had paid careful attention you would have noticed that when I used the phrase "so there..." it was most often in quotation marks  . In other words I was parodying (making fun of  ) those who seem to be so concerned with what others think all while proclaiming that they really don't care what others think (a most bizarre behavior and, I must admit, an easy target for such parody :P )!

And yes, Willi, to tell you the truth at one point I was hoping to engage in some serious discussion regarding 'kneeboarding' (in contrast to, say, standing on a kneeboard :? ) until I realized that many others on this web site were either incapable of or just didn't really want to do the same (which one of these categories you fit into I will leave to you to decide :) ).

Anyway after coming to that particular realization I decided to have some fun tweaking a few noses here and there while spreading my particular form of insanity  .

For example, am I the only person to see the irony of a web site supposedly devoted to kneeling on a kneeboard morphing into a web site devoted to promoting, among other things, kneeling on long boards :?:

Besides, stirring the pot here and there is a good thing. Keeps everyone on their toes, especially since they often refuse to stay on their knees!

And Willi, regarding my most valuable insights, wit, and wisdom, someday I will probably collect them all into a book and hopefully make a small fortune selling it (or not) but in the meantime please feel free to share them (free of charge, BTW) with others as you see fit 8)!

Bryan - I knew exactly where you were going with your thread..and its fun to read.

KBing is KBing. The standup thing is just a novelty.

And this is from a KBer of over 35 years who had KBing taken away due to injury and could only standup surf or 4 years. After rebuilding my ankle and, most importantly, design changes in the boards I ride (6"0" 'aircraft carrier' size), I am so overjoyed to be back KBing - just as the Almighty (greenough....) has intended for me to do!

We've talked about the 'feeling'. Well, give me KBing any day.

Keep on writing, Bryan.

well Brian I don't look for nuance in your posts, your excessive use of emotives, bold type, capitalization... just a form of shouting. since you are obsessed with precision in speech here goes:
** ** ****** ** ****** ****** *** ** ******* *** **** **** ** **** **** ***** *** ****** *** *****
You decide what it means.

Stand up

Post by Ler »

Not everyday is killer kneeboard waves. Where I live (Huntington Beach area) the waves are very rarly over 6 foot. Whats a guy to do. I get real bored, real fast. Thats why I's stand up or skate or kneeboard. I suck at all three, but I loves the rush. I gets the same rush, standing on a 2 foot wave as I do kneeboading doubles overhead or carving around somes skatepark. It's funny too me that other people even care, what other people do. Good Luck to everybody .

Bryan,
i'm not going to waste witty quotes on you. in my opinion your head is firmly lodged up your arse. do you surf? or do you just sit in front of your computer and cause trouble?
spreading your particular form of insanity is getting old. it's easy to be an a-hole, much harder to try and see others point of view and say thats cool.
try something a little more difficult for a change.

Still a fool...

Post by Bryan Jackson »

C’mon guys, at least be creative enough to come up with your own barbs and insults rather than having to rely on some web site :P !

***, ****’* * ***** ***** **** **** ***** ***** *’** ***** **** ******. *** ***** **, ******* *** ****** ****** ** **** **** *****, ***’** ***** * **** !

BTW, that’s a great quote from Mark Twain which I‘ve often used myself. The thing is, whether you remain silent or open your mouth, you’re still a fool  !

I stood up and belly boarded on my kneeboard today. Funny, I did not kneeboard on it once. The waves were too flat. This has been the worst winter ever. Well mabe not ever but in a long time.
Now return to the mud slinging, it makes the day go by faster.

Steeno,
You left out one of the best Australianisms:
Taking the piss

From the looks of this overheated thread it seems that some people don't understand the concept.

"Taking the piss" is when you tear strips off other people, usually in good humour, but sometimes half serious, in persuit of a good laugh (Usually there is a thread of truth in what's being said, otherwise it wouldn't be funny). The better the mate, the more you can bag them. How you handle being the object of pisstaking is a measure of your character.
"Pissed", the US term for angry, is the way people seem to be reacting here.

Please forgive me, I used a kneeboard and a crate to build a bench at a barbie. Looked stupid, but was quite comfy. Stood up on it down sand dunes the next day. Had a ball.

Here's my chin....

Post by Jon Manss »

This subject has gone so far off the mark that it took Red to make me realize that, hey, I once stood up on a Kneeboard also. We used longboards for benches, You get more seats that way. We got skunked at the Ranch one year and our boating-surfing adventure turned into a water skiing trip. But all we had were surf boards and Kneeboards. Guess which worked best behind the boat. We also found a "cove" between the kelp beds that we could whip the rider to the beach into ankle high waves. I got my first and last stand up kneeboarding and tow in wave riding experiance all in one week. Thanks Red, I forgot all about this and don't ask me why your post reminded me of it. Chalk it up to over fifty. Jon
