Surfed VFWs at noon today and Rivera area yesterday. Definitely fun. Mid beach had nice outside waves but three to four rows of chest to head high white water and no obvious paddle channel. The paddle was probably worth it, saw one guy drop into a solid 10' face on the outside. Seems the beach profile is pretty flat in there and is not as peaky as it can get.

Beautiful day for a surf, a bit closed out on the north end and everybody wanted to have a surf, its Friday. Trying for DP in the am.

Saw a kneelo getting waves at VFW around 10:30am. If it wasn't you might have been SFKneelo.

Kelly's by the rock yesterday because of all the close outs.

Judah the day before, midday.

Both good for May. Fun but not awesome.

Actually got a Rincon session in today.. In may..

Inconsistent but had some rare hh sets to make for some great turns and a few long faces.

Hoping it picks up tomorrow but think its fizzling.

Yesterday as swell starts to build. Another kneelo and I paddle out at Kelly's way over by Seal Rock. We shoot right out in the channel. By the time we get to the farthest rock out where overhead waves are breaking, we see two coast guard copters circling our area and two rescue boats come right up to the break. Then they leave. I figure they are training.

I turn around and five fire trucks are in the Kelly's parking lot and two Lifeguard vehicles are on the beach in the corner.

I get the first wave and surf quite a ways. I straighten off on the close out and ride in prone and run back up the beach to the corner to go out again.

As I am riding I see a life guard paddldling out on a rescue baord with rescue tube in tow. He sees me running down the beach. I wave to him and he turns around and comes in.

Near as I can figure some tourist called 911 and said two guys are getting sucked out to sea.

That cost the city quite a bit.

We surfed for 2 hours alone after that. It wasn't even that big.

I'm going to buy a new wetsuit next weekend and upgrading to a 5/4!! This is for summer!!

Well, it does keep the fairweather surfers out of the water. . .

We need a gathering down south for us guys up here in the polar ice flows!!

Man-O-War is heading upcoast tomorrow for some 8.9' @ 14 seconds swell. The forecast has just the right amount of onshore wind to remind us that we're in Florida!
I blew it. Because of the time factor I drove past the spot the Hobgoods call the best wave on the EC, which was empty, and went for the "sure thing" 10 mi. no. When will I learn. When buoys, angle and tides are right, don't think, just execute -- like a pilot, believe the instruments. I'll be kicking myself for this one for a long time, my friends.

Hey Bob, I think that was me at VFW's on Fri. Saw the whole Coast Guard thing going down and didn't know what that was all about? Last Mon broke in the new Flashy 6'0" tri-pin-tail at Fort Point, Tues scored small but fun VFW on the new 5'7" pig-fish quad, took wed off, thurs surfed double session at middle beach Riviera street on the Quad again in the morning and Taraval on the 5'8" step-tail; too big for the step-tail though. Fri had just enough energy for 2 hrs @VFW on the 6'0" newbie again. Great week for surfing! Wed. sucked, but from the shacks at FP to Middle Beach to VFW what a week; Hot, sunny, & off-shore! Needed the weekend to recover though, pretty sore!

Everything north of the bridge is victory at sea.4.6 AT 17SEC...190.Decent size here and at the reefs tumble cycle. The big bay has waves...offshores...blowing about 25-30+....
Maybe late tonight when it shifts to a more northerly direction.Water temp will plummet by tomorrow.Almost feel like working...almost...
