got my mag the other day!
and the article is really a good one.
very well spoken Mr Sparrow!
for all those kneelos out there looking for it
this mag has a blue cover and is Surfing World Issue #290
nice covershot the speedblur is a nice touch when used appropriately.
all n all seemed like a very solid mag with good writing for the most part
for those of us in the masses that still read
enjoyed the tim winton chapters and might even go pick up his book now
do you have an idea if his books have been good reads
hadnt heard of them before?
RARE MENTION AND FOOTAGE OF KNEELO ON TODAYS SWELLNET SURF REPORT FOR BELLS AREA
Updated: Thu Oct 2nd, 7:27am
Surf: clean 2ft
Wind: light W
Weather: overcast
Dawn Patrol: The swell has dropped away with 2ft sets and a light westerly wind. Small waves on the reefs with a large pack hitting Winki early. Other reefs have small waves with not too many on them only. Jan Juc is an option as the tide moves in, also Boobs. Only one kneeboarder out at a local secret spot early. Low tide 7.48am at 0.44m High 1.34pm at 1.41m.
I don't know which book the chapters are from (not caught up with the mag yet) but I have read Tim Wintons "Dirt Music" and was impressed with his ability to communicate the feel of the town and people he was writing about, so much so that I have another of his books to read when I have finished the book I am currently reading. The new Tim Winton book that I have to read (don't know the title as I am at work and the book is at home) has a cover that insinuates it is about surfing or the ocean - will re post the title when I get home this arvo - this could be the book the chapters are from.
most kneelos in the area who are not internet savy (or interested) ride Micheal D boards as a matter of history
mostly square tail twins ridden of the tail
I use to have one and it was a gem (scoop deck)
Micheal D continues to rip winkypop regulaly and his surf outlet empire grows.
With luck one day he will gather all local kneelos together...he is the one person down this way who could really provide exposure. If he and Neil Luke got together there could be a two weekend festival connecting both sides of Victoria in November....or something
