Darcy - thanks for the update. How about a dawn patrol Sunday at Blacks? It gets light about 5:15 a.m. these days so charge early to beat the crowd.

Jack and Darcy:

Well, I'm committed. I reserved my flight on Air New Zealand. I think I'm on the same flight as you Jack-leaving 6-26 returning 7-11. You might see me at Black's on Sunday.

Way to go Ed! Greg Little is also on the fence but leaning heavily towards coming. Tough life he has...he gets back from Mentawai on June 24 and would hop back on a plane for Tahiti!

I'm picking up my new Shoelkopf tomorrow (finally!). Hope to see you guys Sunday.

black's session - team practice

Post by DarcyM »

Don't expect me at Black's by 5:30 am Sunday - I'm too dang old for that kind of schedule! I need to let my body get moving a little first if ya know what I mean. Besides, it's my damn day off so I'll just deal with the crowds. Swarmis, Windansea, Cardiff, Blacks, I can deal. Same as it ever was.

But it looks like it might be good down there tomorrow for team USA south, so I'm going to try to make it. Hopefully by 7:30 or 8, no guarantees tho'. Pray that the wind turns offshore tonight, too, it was pretty sloppy down here today (I know, go early, miss the wind).

see yas soon!

Here is a link to the contest Web site - no word yet on cheap fares...

http://www.horue.pf/popoti2004.htm

Just me, Dave and Matt Cunningham at Blacks yesterday - we got fun windswell peaks. Billy and Dogman showed as I was leaving. Hopefully everyone else got out somewhere, sometime. I'll post some photos of that new Schoelkopf - it's working reeeeeel good.

yeah Jack, I got shanghaied Sat nite, so by the time I looked at Black's the wind was well on it's way, and no off shores like had been predicted. More sheltered at windansea that morning but still kinda junky, hope you guys had fun for that early -brrr (zzzz) - session.

Ivan - I got an e-mail from the surf club World contest organizers early last week saying that the special code for Air Tahiti fares would be up soon. They didn't say when. I check their website almost every day, but it's still not there.

Ed - I may be joining you and Jack on that late night early morning air NZ flight if the tahiti thing doesn't come through soon! Hope it doesn't sell out!

Ed - where do you live? I'm trying to figure out the cheapest/easiest way to get to LAX and back.

Jack, there are a number of long term parking facilities right near LAX. Cheaper and easier than a commuter flight from SD. You can check

http://www.airportparkingreservations.c ... &subid=LAX

or search web for LAX parking.

rent a car

Post by geo »

Jack
go to budget on line one way rental from San Diego anywhere from 20 bucks on up beats parking in LAX cheapest about $8 per day. And do the same when you return.

Jack:

I live in Orange. I'm about 45 minutes away from LAX. Why don't you drive up to my house and leave your car in my driveway. If Darcy gets the same flight, pick her up on the way up. My wife can take us and pick us up from LAX. My van will fit all of us.

Now that the flight is booked, I'm working on the passport.

It would have been a 4 AM wake up call to meet you guys on Sunday. I was a little tired from a 3 hour surf on Saturday at 56 Street in Newport. It was a little windy but fun with 4' lefts and no one out early. Sunday was smaller, less wind, but still pretty fun.

Glad to hear the new board is working great!

Hey guys,
I'm still trying to get a job to pay for Tahiti, but I live about a block from LAX, so regardless if I go or not, you guys should just carpool up and park in my driveway.
