Take me away, Mr. Wizard

Post by khoningford »

This swell not really living up to expectations down here in the O.C.... well, the upper half anyway. Newps... more like nopes, and HB not doing much better. Really drained -out this morning on the low tide offering the rare makeable wave at some of the lower jetties. I did hear that a certain south county spot that starts with a "T" and rhymes with "where the f@#k did all these barnies come from" was making the most of it. Anyone have a first- hand report? How about any spots farther south? Anyone???

Oh and keep it up, Syd. Long range Indo forecast looking real good...maybe we'll get some practice next weekend???

Oceanside was the sight of a mini gathering today. With about ten or so kneelo's in the water. The glassy walls and the occasional corner made it fun. Nothing to write home about though, the drift was so so but I'm sure it was less than you dealt with Kenny. The report on Trestles was accurate. With a contest at uppers no less and every computer illiterate surf rat from five states in the line up. Can you say ridiculous. M.R. and I checked SC State and it had plenty of potential with a lite crowd and some little bowls but with the tide fill in it wasn't that great. A weak little swell for sure. The next one will be better. 8)

Beaches had some fun ones again this morning. Early AM and low
tide was the best. It was smaller and more inconsistent this morning, but
still got some fun little lefts and the occasional right.

Surfed until 10:00 and got out when it started getting too fat. NW wind
picked up heavy again down here around noon today.

looked at 54 today and saw minus tide drained out junk, decided to go to wedge and pull out a body board to get a few barrels, i didn't think it would be good enough to kb, WRONG 8) , turns out it was a bit overhead and had pretty good shape. paddled out at dawn and had some waves to meself for a while. a few in and outs and fun drops, kept me in the water about 3 hrs. alot of fun for the size.
i guess i can call it indo training
24 days to go, but who's

summer fun at OB

Post by sf_firestarter »

Fri and Sat afternoons at Kelley's,OB was fun. I saw three other kneeboarders in/out of the water but nobody in close enough proximity to communicate. Saw yellow board blue/green fins get a nice long one as I was leaving the water...whoever that was?

Checked RJ's on my way to work and it looked pretty fun at 7:30ish. There were some nice corners/sections and only a couple of guys out scoring!

county line

Post by surfhorn »

Was in SoCal visiting my grandsons for 2 days and caught County Line both Weds & Thurs AM at about 3'-4'. Some fun sections.

Surfed with my standup buddy who lives at the top of Coral Canyon. He kept saying "You can standup on that thing" (my 6'0" 5 fin). So, on one wave, I jumped up to my feet, backside, with my fins on and pumped it down the line on a nice right hander. It was the last time he said "you can standup on that thing". lol

For Norcal folks. Was at Cronkite for the Xterra 21km trail run this morning. Nice overhead to 10' faced sets rolling through in the morning with slightly textures sections. Basic Cronkite cruncher close outs with a makeable section here and there. Had the board with me but was too spent from the race to surf afterward. Finished in 2:03:32; 2nd place in 45-50 yo category, 22nd overall. The last 2.5 miles had over 800 feet of elevation gain and loss. I suffered.
