Kneeboarders age today?

Post by Huntington State »

Just curious...since the sport was really popular when I was growing up 1972-1985...then faded...whats the age of a kneeboarder out there today..
I'm thinking 45-55...and maybe 18-25....if its on a come back

Biggest age group at the Phillip Island Pro (the hardest kneeboard contest in the world) were the grand masters (45-50) and the veterans (50+). Bothe had 5 heats of 4 (plus a couple of extras)

The open finals had 1 vet and the semis 1 grand master, so the "kids" are stepping up to the mark at last (actually almost all are over 30 - kneeboarding is probably the only sport where you can still be the grom at 30). But there were only 12 competitors under 25 at the comp.

I'll be 47 in a couple of weeks ,and on those rare days at the wedge I feel like an old man in the water. All the bodyboarders know me as the old man, or the Plumber because I show up on week days in my work truck. Actually I'm one of the younger guys  Man that sucks

I'll be 55 in 2 weeks. I still feel like the knees can go for alot more years. Now, all I gotta do is get rid of this stupid job so I can surf more.
69 will always rule gumby!

We talking inches or years ???? 54 and a half :D :D and still able to count. Will back Red up in saying Phillip Island being one of the hardest comps to win, but one of the best experiences.
Cheers to all that I met on the Isle.
