sorry damo, i was bored, I have been enjoying the read though.
if you can do an air, its just another part of your surfing, something else to make you smile, nothing wrong with that.
that maldive footage is not in a competition, nor for a competition, its just another challenge to boost ya fun levels, excuse the pun

airs are fine...im just not sure about them leading to an inflated opinion of a kneelos surfing
speaking of inflation, metaphors and old movies, im reminded of the auto pilot scene in Airport 75
anyway
Roger that! over and out..on this one

I would love to see some airs in a contest, pulled or not, but the waves don't always help, I think. How come no USA riders on the list? Has the US?
Has the US ever won a world title? Main event?

Airs have been around since the early-mid 1980s... Kneelos have been doing them for just as long, in and out of contests.
There might be a few old guys from the West coast of the USA still able to remember a move from the late 60s - early 70s: the El Rollo. Apparently it involves using the lip to launch high enough to err, roll through 360 degrees and then land on the face again. Course the boards they were riding were short, kinda narrow and had two clunky looking fins right near the tail. Designed by some feller called Lis, wasn't it? No longer kneerides much owing to sore knees from excessive air time, some say ...
