if you haven't seen this clip from the uk site, check out the arm movement as surfer comes out of the cuttie.........

beautiful unweighting to ride up into the foam using arms, legs, torso,

wonderful body torque

beautiful follow through of the arms into the next turn

"If you're trying to ride over a foam section and still make the wave (floater?), throw both arms forward as you hit the section. This adds forward momentum and gets you positively positioned (head over nose of board, ass up) "[/size]

you take the movie Chris?

Crox - thanks for sharing the clip (worth the wait). I was super impressed with Karl's surfing when he was over here for the KSUSA Titles. In my mind, he's right up there with the big boys from Oz.

I know it's cold over there but keep the footage coming!

Great thread, I am getting alot of good info I will take back to the water with me. Let me add the sequence in Darcy's photo is Tom B ripping a roundhouse. He is using a Carl Hayward fish, which I will bet 10 bucks is probably about 20 years old. Notice the horizontal position of his body hitting the foam, I would say he did it right for his style. Thankfully styles are different. Arms in the air reminds me of the great MR surfing.
Finally let me give my personal philosophy on the evolution of surfing in general; first you are learning, making some manuevers, and sometimes crashing, second you become decent, making manuevers, but maybe not looking pretty, then a person develops a sense of style. Ripping with style is the last phase. Style is a personal thing, some get it naturally, others purposely develop it by immitating others and getting close to it, or nailing it.
Great thread :D
