Just finished with a makeover on a Flashpoint that has served me well for a few years. The makeover included laying in padding in the knee dents and then padding over the dents and most of the deck. Edges of the pad sanded and were sealed with Marine Goop. Numerous dents on the bottom were filled in with a new hot coat and sand out. The dents were probably caused by me leaving my board in my truck in a tropical climate and baking and softening the resin. FCS fins were sanded to return the proper foil.
I was concerned about the added weight of the deck pad and possible drag on rail buried turns. Paddling out yesterday the weight distribution definitely felt different but my concerns were short lived. From yesterday at South Padre Island, Texas. All photos are property of Seagypsys Photography and please patronize her website. The board is shaped by Mr. Bruce Hart and is V3 in our collaboration.

Good work, Quadfin. Nice to preserve a favorite board to keep it cutting edge. I did the same with a one of Bud's Blast roundpins that is my gun. Had a ding guy fill in the depressions, give it the same careful attention to get a few more years out it. It's an amazing board in larger California surf and quite worth the effort and expense.
