On Monday nite 4-4-11 I am watching the History Channel's American Pickers. The guys, Mike and Frank, who travel to hoarder properties and buy valuable junk then turn it over to sell it for profit are in So Cal this episode. They get a lead to visit a surfboard collector named Bird. They get to Bird's quonset hut warehosue which is a gold mine of classic boards. Frank starts asking about a board the Bird describes as a"fish". Its got some airbrished bamboo designs running the length of the board. The show goes to break and I can't wait to see if the show elaborates on the fish design. Sure enough they do credit the design to Steve Lis with a photo of a gangly mop haired kid with his creation describing him as a San Diego kneeboarder. Frank buys it for $1000. Then they go to the Surfing museum where the curator feels this junk picker from Iowa who has a national TV show can sell it for $2000. Ok you guys.....who bought that Lis fish and saved it from Iowa???

badknees, I've heard about the show that you're talking about from some friends of mine, and my Dad. I don't have cable or dish tv so I've never seen it. Bird, is Eric Huffman former kneeboarder from here in La Jolla, Rex's brother. It's believable that he sold a Lis fish for $1000. I like to check out craiglist, and evil-bay just to look at beautiful boards, kneeboards or stand-up. About 2 days ago on craigslist, someone was selling a 6'6" Lis fish stand-up board for $900, serious buyers willing to spend that much, no trades. He wanted to finance a new van, otherwise he wouldn't be selling it. Just a awesome board! It's oviously been sold! He listed his town as Azure Vista, the same area Stevie is from! Anyone know this person?
