What you're calling 'fliers' we've always called 'slight wings'. I used to use them on my older thrusters when I wanted extra width in the tail but wanted to be able to break the rail so as to turn easier.

We've also tried shaping the wing further up (towards the deck) on the rail, trying to leave the bottom template line unbroken. As you roll onto the rail, that is when the wing would kick in. Used a rat tail file to add a bit of concave under the wing.

plan on riding it in Big BeachBreak, SilverStrand(Hollywood by the Sea),
Do they still beat the crap out of non-locals there, and destroy their cars while they are in the water???

I wouldn't say " those days are over"! It is a very, very tight knit community and when you paddle out you will feel like an outsider . There are still many hardcore locals .When it's good and the boy's are out --good luck getting waves and smiles. They still wax cars and stuff. Most people here feel localism is still in effect for sure.Alot more tolerence --but still in force.....

That stuff not so bad. I'm more referring to baseball bats and holding people underwater until they pass out and dragging them up on the beach saying, "come back out and we'll finish the job." This really happened to a friend of mine.

I believe the change for the 'old days' came when a judge sentenced a local to 6 months probation - not allowed to surf the area - after beating a visiting surfer.

The local broke probation by surfing and the judge slammed him into the slammer to serve some time.

Not too many cars set on fire anymore  a few bricks into car windows, and which beatings?? ( there have been many).I know when many guys had razor blades glued to nose of boards.Mostly just fins into boards and told to go to the beach now.I remember Shaun Thomson chased down beach with fourwheel drive.Overall there are still alot of bad ass guys around.

spirals and length

Post by hart »

Rocker plays an enormous role.

A spiral concept (pressure) in a longer board can be negated with tail lift.

Which generally occurs over the longer bottom line in a gun to begin with.

Spirals like all things, are relative to intrinsic length..and of course, overall curve.
