Thanks again to everyone who made this year's event possible. What more can you ask for: sunshine for the last two days; overhead swell, and a great time had by all. Thanks go out to all the people who worked so hard to make it the great event that it was. Can't wait for next year and the gathering on the north shore.

Syd

PS. Both the juniors that showed up walked away with new boards and Kneelo Nick was awarded a new board as well.

The Open final results were:
1. Barry Baker
2. Jack Beresford
3. Tom Linn
4. Bob Schiff

I don't recall all of the other results, other than Roger Hughes taking 2nd in the AAA and Scott Hayward taking 2nd in the AA.

There were several other really, really cool awards. I'm pulling back from here until the proper prose can be put to what was a very warm event closing...

Many thanks to all that pulled the event together! Like Syd was saying, the waves, weather, and great contest support (judges, water patrol, etc.) cooperated beautifully. Can't wait to see the video and pix!

The semis and finals, in particular, were dogfights. Marc Crawford, Don Harris, Bill Lerner and John Mel all surfed brilliantly!

Barry just killed a couple waves in the final to seal the deal. On his 2nd killer wave, the water patrol just ooohed and aaahed... I shook my head and laughed (while still panting.)

Jack was surfing hard as well, pulling two cutback 360s on one wave.

Tom poured in on in the semis and carried the momentum into the finals to earn a well deserved 3rd. He was surfing fast and hard throughout!

I'm happy to have another beautiful Jon Manss trophy. They actually match pretty well! And wait until you see the trophies Tom Backer made... both are true artists.

So... some of the questions left to be answered are:

- What happened Friday night that made Ed Quinn cry in laughter?
- What happened to Don and Jon Mel on Saturday night?
- Who was the Sojourn Master?
- What happened to Jack's knee?
- Who got the most radical move award?
- What happened to all those raffled boards?
- Why is it good to be a grom?
- How in the hell did Wayne Kopit score SO much raffle goodies? ;-)
- Should I buy 'Here and Now,' which premiered on Thursday (OK, I'll answer 'Oh, yeah!')
- How the hell do I get rid of lower back pain?
- How the hell do I sneak out for a session today? It's going off!

Stay tuned!

sfkneelo asks many good questions and here are a few more;
What happens when you mix a South African and Puerto Rican with Yeagermyster?
Who are the Guardian Angels of foreign affairs?

Answers to follow soon. I have to go back to the early years to remember such a great time, in the water and out. Thanks to all I could share with, my only regret is my house is to small to host everyone. If I could I would have. Cheers and stay tuned in for stories and pics.

How was the PI comps? I hope you mates had as good a time as we had.

Oops! I meant 'Now and Then...'

'Here and Now' must be related to cell phones and surfers' ear... 'Can you hear me now?'

'Oh, sure... Thanks! Buy me a beer now!'

What a fun weekend!

Great weather and waves, a smooth, well-run event, and I think the level of surfing got pushed up a couple of notches compared to last year -- and not just because we had bigger waves than last year. It seemed everyone at every level was trying to push their limits.

I've got nearly three hours of footage on video, and can't wait to go through it. My thanks go out to all who made this event possible again, and thanks to Scott Wessling, Wayne K, Ed Dimick, Barry B., and everyone else who helped man the video camera.

Talking of photos. The photographer told me that he will have over 400 images. They should be really good, he had a 800 mm lens that he was shooting the action with. I think Mark and Don were going to do something with the photos but posting that many may have some inherent technical difficulties. I guess we just have wait and see.
