This question is for all of you tri fin riders,
Where exactly do you have your fins mounted and what are the height and length of your fins? I realize that the fin location has alot to do with the length and the tail template of the board but your thoughts on the matter, or some figuers would be greatly appreciated. I'm always experimenting with fins and I'm curious what you guys are doing.
Thanks, T Hall.

16 1/2 for the side fins and 7 1/2 for the trailer fin, or something like that... on my 5'8" usually with g7000 on the side fins and a gyu as the trailer.

That should help.

Got an FCS-lookalike system on my latest board (6'0" x 23") tri-fin, offspring of Aussie boards from when they came over to RSA back in the late 90's (?). Seeing as I surf mainly a fairly fast, hollow left point (think JBay in reverse) I was toying with the idea of reducing the right side fin to give a snappier off the top, while hopefully not detracting from the long, drawn-out cranking bottom turn vibe.
Assuming thats a noble concept, is it best to remove material from the trailing edge, or make the fin shorter or both ? (in small increments ?)

Thanx red, headwax
Funnily enough, my 1st instinct was to lop off from the tip of the fin......
But seeing as h.wax gave the most convincing reply, I'll go with that.
I guess thats the beauty of FCS... if it doesnt work, into the (spare parts) bin it goes and try a different tack.
...re Red being one of the best...I surfed a couple a times against him in trials and provincial champs (way back), competing against Red, Steve Cruickshank, Sean Noone etc...no chance for me !
cheers
