Found these pads today. I believe they are eva. They look like the right thickness. However, you can google "yoga mats" and find many other eva pads of various thickness, colors and textures. http://www.yogaaccessories.com/YogaMat14.asp
Nope,don't need a heavier[sinking] board.
Another good reason to be on this site, someone may have already done it,and spreads the good-bad factors.
Testing is on hold
BW.
that'll work...got 1/4in eva,and it don't absorb.A bit light for me.....I'm working the rounds thru my sweeties yoga group looking for 1/2 in

I think hart is-was working on some pad project, don't know much of it.Could be a secret deal till all the patents are in place....
10mm EVA is the go. You may have to get a good quality one from a specialist shop, though. The good quality ones have better memory (i.e. don't compress) and don't chip/tear. They are also acid resistant!
If you can use a power sander on it then you probably have dense enough material. I use a router to get texture on it. Don't overdo texture. The cross hatching on commercial types actually decreases contact area and friction, so makes them more, rather than less slippery.
I have an early version of a Niuhi pad on one of my boards. I can tell you that it's by far the best deck pad i've ever had. If you get a chance to purchase one you should definitely do it!
Those knee pads look AWESOME!!!! Can you do anything that is not artisticly creative????? I've been struggling with pads for too long. My complaints are: too thick(Bud's), too bumpy and sticky(Parke's), too thin (Romo's). Lately, I have been buying wetsuit material (5m) and glueing it to my boards, It works ok, but it seems to hold in the water, starts to stink and comes unglued after several seesions. The pads shown on your recent post in the photo gallery look like the answer I've been looking for!! And, they look !!!!!
