October is my favorite month.
Too many fond memories of fantastic surf in various places on the planet.
For your needs though............
Southern California can get epic that time of year.
Santa Ana winds with a mix of South, West or North West swells can make the beaches around Newport Huntington..even Bolsa! EPIC!
A-Frame peaks all up and down the beaches.
I remember a great day (74?) out in front of the poewer plant near Newland Street HB....... 8' peaks everywhere, howling offshore winds.
You could drop into the left and go right or vice-versa.

SO ROUND & CLEAN. The paddle out was hell though.
Word on the street is that there's a sand point setup at the River Jetties now just waiting for swell.
Spent 2 weeks in October in G-Land once. That was incredible.
12 guys..........perfect 6-8ft surf.
One morning there was this strange fog blowing out of the jungle obscuring the view of the surf.
I climbed the tower and could see perfect lines peeling off at Moneytrees and disapearing into the mist at Speed Reef.
I snuck out for a solo session but my mate "The Sloth" saw me sneaking away and followed me out.
We surfed by ouselves until the fog lifted 2 hours later.
Lastly the North Shore can be awesome during October.
Usually by that time it's really started to crank out here.
The only place that might not be good at that time is the Pipline Off The Wall area...........too much sand.
Every year is different. Sometimes it's a lot of North swell sometimes West.
The last 3 years have tended to have Norths. We've had a few EPIC....BIG Laniakea days, roping off from the point at Hultons all the way to the bridge.
When it's like that there is no place on the planet that's better.
Truly one of the most spectacular sights you'll ever see in surfing not to mention the rides you can get. Gotta be one of the best kneeboard surfing waves on the planet. Take off is actually easy......if you can manage to courage to sit at the top of the break.
I've scored it with conditions as good as the Ranch. (No lie! I've surfed the Ranch (69-76) many times and some real big days.)
Kinda like Razor Blades except way more powerful and hollow!
Did I mention the water is 80 degrees?
GO HAWAII ! ! !
There are great deals on tickets with Hawaiian or Aloha Air out of LA right now.
PM me, I can set you up at my neighbor Doug Smiths place.
