big feet
for those kneelos who hoave problems with finding fins athat are big enough...try Da Fins, they come in size 15-16!!!!! Mark cunningham and dan malloy both use them....they have a short edge blade that give them hold when bodysurfing/sponging/mat riding..you can buy the north shore model that has stiffer rubber for more power!!

longer fins/flippers
The udt's are bigger? Does it mean the whole fin is larger to include the
foot pocket. I could never wear duckfeet or what I was told were udt's
Is the foot pocket made larger for use with booties/socks? Some people say I dont need fins because my feet are so wide.
Ever watch those freedivers they use an entirely different stroke
with those huge fins.

cuttin down
some trim the blade to their own specs...i have size 14 feet so i cut away some of the top of the foot pocket to make room...i then slit the top, "vulcanized" the rubber with an open flame and drilled holes and strung shoe laces through to lace up...this affords me a wider foot pocket and ive had no problems with cramping since......i also used a dremel to grind/sand down the center rib and a little bit of both side ribs..the fins are much more flexible and have a quicker acceleration rate now...much more comfortable to paddle...greenough grinds all of the ribs away and uses epoxy/carbon fiber to acheive a snapping property to the fins...i want to use the carbon/epoxy modification on a pair of 7" blade (yellow) vipers to overcome the flimsyness and get the same snap and more power for when im bodyboarding or bodysurfing.....

I seem to remember a post in last few days on KSUSA that was about maybe even titled: UDT's no longer available. Sure can't find it now. Anyhoo, just got this from the man (Greg Deets) himself:
please post to ksusa and let them know
that a newer more flexible
brown natural gum and churchill green udt will soon emerge
maybe even translucent!
let them know
yes let them know
the revolution has just begun
i bring the war to the entire fin industry!
on sizing...
here is a rough sizing chart
udt only
yes only 50 a pair thru me
ducks
23.50

When trying to fin the right fin, you might wanna keep in mind that to big will give you calf muscle cramp and to small will give you foot cramps. now I'm talking about foot size here and not blade lenght. I've found the perfect fin for boath booties and bearfoot. And check out ankle safty stuff, sompeople love it some hate the idea that they have more crap on their feet. Any way I'm no expert but After reading stuff on this post a lot of people seem to be on the right track. good luck

He gets very busy, give it a few days and he will get back to you. I have ordered 4 pair from him over the years. Still like Vipers better though.hannya wrote:parsimony@earthlink.net is where you can get in touch with Dr. Deet

I would love a fin with the foot pocket of a Viper and the Thrust of a UDT. That would be perfect.
