Mr Headwax is being modest (although he did promise not to brag about the result).

Results of Heat 2: 1 Headwax, 2 Xmas, 3 Wolruss...

and the NOVOs continued that theme winning 7 of 8 heats to take a (very) well deserved win.

Thank god for Matty Nov - otherwise both SKC and WAKA would have had to drop their dacks and do a lap of the beach :D

Couple of standouts (by my reckoning) were NOVOs Shannon Berwick and Ryan Gallagher.

Big cheers to Mel Horodam and the NOVO crew for putting on an outstanding event. Grassroots kneeboarding at its very best. A great vibe all day - and the sun shining certainly helped.

Great trophy made by Rob Slater - well done Slats. I'll post a pic shortly.

Inaugural NSW Clubs Team Challenge results:

1. NOVO
2. SKC
3. WAKA

Looking forward to next year- SKC to host 8)

Great pics Surfwx,
Many thanks to the Novo's and John Clinghan from the KSA for a great day of 'club togetherness'
It really brings home the true meaning of mateship and club surfing....something i have missed in the last 6 months!
The Novo's were worthy winners, with some outstanding surfing in such small conditions....... way to go boys :!: Also congrat's to the Sydney side...just to strong for us....a big salute to teams captains, Mel from the Novo's, Grant from the Sydney club and of course Smurf from the Waka's :D
Thanks again for a great a day in Newcastle... 8)

Apologies if some of the images are under/over processed, I was working through them individually last night and by 9.30pm was only at image 50, and with 80 odd to go, went stuff this and stuck a generic batch job over the rest. :(

Big thanks to the Novo boys for the invitation and Paul for making sure I didn’t pass out from malnutrition (mate I definitely didn’t need any dinner last night or breakfast this morning  )

Next time Mr Wax.

waka, I reckon you’ve hit the nail on the head about mateship. Just something about kneelos that the rest of the surfing community doesn’t possess.

Teams event

Post by wolruss »

:D :D  :D
Absolute corker of an event, the teams event at Newcastle, hats of to Mel and the Novo boys for an enjoyable day.
A whole lot of penny's dropped for this old wolruss on saturday and tonight as I check out this site - thanks to Grant X, I've just twigged to who Surfwax is also!!! ( onyaJohn) - anyway as I was imparting, while preparing for our heat, introductions all round were conducted...."G'day Andrew, Grant......G'day Grant. Russell......G'day Russell, Andrew (actually I think Andrew initiated the intro's) Grant asks Andrew where his place was that we've all seen the shots from out his window up on the headland   :!: :!:      "shots from window, headland".... KSUSA site.....
I pipe up and ask "Headwax????" " yup thats me!!", he replies, I throw in with, "I'm Wolruss" and with that Grant adds, "I'm Xmas"........ well I'll be blowed, introductions all round again with laughs and recognition.
T'was a simple thing, but to tell the truth, despite pulling up the tail end of the results and nearly decapitating poor old Xmas as we came together on a close out, left and right respectively coming together, that made my weekend ( simple things.....).
Seeing a lot of the faces I recognised from the Coffs comp. placing some names and faces - the Novos made everyone feel welcome, getting to know some of them ( good idea the Barbie) - so many things, meeting Slats to whom I have exchanged emails and phone calls but never met, ....... anyway I'm rambling on again...... will cut it short with.......... A great event !!!...... A great day!!! .......... Great people!!!................. and I concur with Surfwax and WAKA comraderie, thats what its all about.
To a lot of people this is all run of the mill stuff, been coming to comps for a few years, everyone knowing everyone else, to me its' still all brand new and exciting and I still can't believe ther are so many kneelos out there ( and bloody good ones to boot ), a few people may have seen the look on my face and thought "Oh yea look at this guy" but I was soaking it up for all it was worth - I'm loving it.......here's hoping I can make it to Phillip Island and have that same look on my face for a little while longer yet.
To finish off ...Congrats to John Clingan, the club heads - Grant, Mel, Wayne (smurf) and to all the kneelos who showed....looking forward to the nexr one.

Cheers Wolruss

Nice bunch of pics, surfwx, I wouldn't worry one fig about the processing, looks fine from this side of the world!

Wow, only two years since Tahiti and little Matt Nov is looking more grown-up than ever and sporting a bit of beard as well.

Hey, I thought it was Winter down there for you guys! Guess it doesn't get cold in Newcastle! Lovely weather for your meet and congrats to all the winners and participants!

Was an absolute beautiful 2nd day of spring here in downunda land
I believe was around 26c with an off shore breeze to boot
Had a wonderful day meeting up with all the crew and newcomers alike
An ablolute huge thanx to all the photogs there putting in the extreme effort ... and can I say a link is up on the oz FUELTV home page to the days pics from Slats on the KSA site ... how good is that ... maybe a few more strays may wander by
Mat is in the middle of his final year at school and was pleased to get a leave pass to attend this weekend and as for the beard .... its ashame he cant afford a razor to use on a more regular basis ... might have given him even more speed down the line (lol)
Can I say congratulations matee for bringing some well deserved points back to the Sydney club ... you did us proud as all the juniors did for their clubs
Was only sorry I had other directions to go myself for the evening ... so had to pass on the nights activities and street parade through the streets of the lovely NOVO land
I am sure it would have rivaled the annual ANZAC parade (lol)
All in all it was a fun afternoon and congats to Mel and all the Novo crew and all participants for putting on a great afternoons entertainment
From the shore it was great to watch as can be seen from all the pics on show
I didnt get to participate ... but did however get to try my new board I won in Coff's that I picked up on Friday First impressions is WOW but with only 30 mins in the water really want some slightly bigger size to really test it out
As with all new boards it needs more than a couple of waves to find its spot
Though Shannon had a turn and gave it the thumbs up
pics to come on the KSA site (HUGE THANX DAVE)
OK cheers for now
Tony
Love that "greenroom" feeling...(don't panic I finally found it)..... good ole' winki on a good day
