Gene
Mate that would be cool. I was going to just rock on up and find a cheap place somewhere and then see what happens. I am flying in from Ireland to San Jose on the 4th jan. If it is cool that I can stay, I would appreciate it. I am a really good cook and well house broken. Hand me a guitar and I will entertain you for as long as you are willing to listen or sing along or whatever else. let me know the craic ( Cork for fun & a lot of other things but that can wait) and I will be in touch.

Folks,

There is a very simple explanation...

The list on the Home Page is updated manually, and is not connected in any way to the Registration.

Don, and maybe Joe or others, have been updating the list manually.

I'll call to confirm... but I confident that those Registered and not on the Home Page list are OK.

One moment, please!

The list on the web page is not the official or final list of competitors. I've been helping to update the list as information is sent to me. The list will be updated to add last minute entries and correct any errors or omissions.

I wish I could be as eloquent as Jamie on this... Prescot AZ is not nearly as far as the worlds are going to be from you the next time (and I agree with Jamie in that I say they will probably never be as close to you). If they are in New Zealand in 08 your looking at at least a grand in airfares before you even touch down. Are you sure you would rather kill a few animals a short drive away?

to surf or to kill, thats the question :!:

but not as difficult to solve as a leading European philosophers claim that left leaning people (politicaly) support amongst other things, a womens right to abortion but not the death penalty. :?

hmmm a chance to fill my freazer with 6months worth of meat!? Like i said i am still going to try to make it just wont make it to the finals. as for cost? my cousin works for the airlines and i work for a hotel chain (unfortunately not in SC). The cost for me to go to SC is very close to what it would cost me to go to aussie or kiwi land. as for the worlds in NZ? that would be perfect as I have many maori cuzzy's and i could stay for free.

Air plane ticket to NZ (buddy pass/ rnd trip/business class) - $350 US

Spending money for food + gifts for 3 weeks - $150 US

The look at the expression on my face at the exchange rate? - Priceless!!
based on my last trip to NZ 2 years ago
Surfing perfect Raglan for 3 weeks - Also Priceless!

What about Europe

Post by blueocean »

All you guys talk about Australia and New Zeland, i think there should be a big group from south africa, but mostely from Europe, sine the uk alone does not represent Europe, actualy i feel all the best europeans are left out: Israel, Spain and France top Kneeboarders could make some serious damage, those who have seen the European cahmpionships in the 90's can back me up on this.
and to complete the list i wish i could aford the trip, but my ex has taken every dime i had, and now i can only hope for a good webcast!!!!!

It's like the lottery - you've got to be in it to win.

For every kneeboarder we see at contests there are probably an equal number of underground and/or "retired" rippers.

Everyone loves to see new rippers at contests - witness Mark making the final at the PI contest on his twinnie

All that the organiser's can do is make the contest attractive and accessible. The rest is up to everyone's personal priorities ($, family, time, quality of time vs other use of time, etc.)

oh no, now the pressure is on! I believe that Don Harris is the only USA kneelo to win a World Contest age group and no one from the US has every made an Open final (unless you count Albert). Please correct me if I'm wrong on any of this. If we don't have some success this time around then we just SUCK!!!
