How is the surf so far this year in your part of the world ?

I'm generally happy to get wet no matter what the conditions, and living 45 minutes easy drive to my favourite wave which I can surf sans wettie all year, I would no doubt sound spoilt if I bitched.

I am however certain that the weather pattern has changed (and not for the better) over the past couple of years here in Queensland.

The biggest change has been with regards to the wind direction. The usual winter westerlies, which equals off-shore for us, in August, September and October, have just not happened.

In fact, they have been replaced by howling easterlies - not good.
I try to get to Fraser Island for a fortnight each August for some beach fishing, and this onshore mess appears to be the new norm.

Talk of conspiracy theories are regular around the beach fire.

Today it's 36c with a light N/W and 2-3 foot. Pitty it's school holidays and the kids don't surf yet.

We've had a terrible Fall/Winter in San Diego. Weather conditions have been ideal, however we've only had one or two solid ground swells. None of them lasting more than a few days. It has been so small the last two days I could not even ride my tanker!
Looks like we should be getting a good swell next week. Keep your fingers crossed Tues. could be good.

the water down here is awesome (wollongong) 22 degrees today, I have not had a wetty on since november, has not been cold at all.

Yeah, a cold current got pushed down in front of that little swell last weekend..and it's stayed cold since.

Hi guys,

it got down to 16-17 degrees here on Sunday. Not pretty in the guts of summer. Doesn't sound like its improved much yet either. Haven't had a surf since Sunday and hanging out for tomorrow. I believe there might be an increase in the swell this evening?

Hey I'm looking forward to some swell to keep going with that new Friar Tuck. 3 - 4 foot will do it, but any less and I will be dissapointed. I don't want to lose any momentum. You pickin' me up at 5:15am tomorrow right GeeTee?

Didn't get the 3-4 foot on Saturday but got it on Sunday + not a cloud in the sky and fantastic water clarity. NSW Central Coast = God's Country!
